I load my kayak, Hobie Outback, upside down so I don't have to worry about cradles or deforming the hull. If you have gear permanently affixed to the top that may not work for you.

What I am hearing then is to either travel north a ways or stick to freshwater for my next trip out. Any farther north than Jenner has been very slow, or so I've heard. 9
