Hey everyone,

@fishmotion, @sin coast,  thanks for the advice.  Seems they do not manufacture the Revo 16 any more so I am proceeding with the Rev0 13.  Located a 2020 model and will probably get that one vs the 2021 which is 300 more for no new features over the 2020 model.

I have been using the windy app for wind readings but they also have a reading for swell size.  For a kayak what swell size is generally too big to fish?  I am thinking anything more than 5ft which is what I use for surf fishing.  What is the max swell size do you guys think is safe?

take care guys and keeo safe!

Hey @yakal thanks for the great tips. The one about the milk crates is so simple but brilliant and should be in the sticky Topic: A sticky for ocean newbie questions.

Hi @sin coast!  Hope all is well with you. I got a question for Yakal and you.  Would it be better to just get the revo 16 instead of the 13?  My fear was that I would not be able to car top it to my honda accord.  I will be using a J rack ( thanks on this tip Yakal)  and it is the extra 3 inches of the Revo 16 I was worried about.  Never having car topped anything,   I keep having thoughts of a long kayak flying off the roof.  I think it should not be an issue but I would appreciate any advice.

I am so glad that I joined Norcal, and hope to meet some of the members on the water soon.  Have a great week everyone.

Hi NuggyT,

I am interested!  I took a Quick look at Windy app and it shows some rough water this M to Th, when do you think you want to go out.

Looking forward to hearing back from ya.

Hi Guys,

Hope everyone is doing well.

Was supposed to get the yak today but a last minute thing came up so it looks like it will be next week now.

From utube I gather the Garmin striker CV transducer is not going to fit the Revo 13.  So I should get the striker 4+?  Any advise here is appreciated !

Thanks in advance and nervous about drilling into my new yak, hope I don't mess it up.

have a good week end all.

Hi All,

Been mostly bank fishing and finally decided to try yak fishing.  Still deciding on the yak -  but leaning towards revo 13 for the pedal drive and weight.
Still got lots to buy and learn and hope to meet some seasoned yak fishermen to learn from.

thanks and have a good weekend all. :smt001
