Spent the day trolling anchovies, both frozen and live for halibut from 6:45-1:00,. Action was slow but We saw a few small halibut caught by boaters. At around 11:00 I finally got a good bite and felt some good head shakes. After a few good runs managed to net a fat 31.5” halibut. A New Kayak PB. I guess there are halibut in Tomales bay after all.

I know Halibut fishing has been slow this year so hopefully this helps anyone looking for that elusive butt.

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Paradise 7/17/21
« on: July 17, 2021, 05:47:46 PM »
Met up with Fellow NCKA member ElvinG at paradise beach park. The plan was to bounce ball for halibut with anchovies and herring for a solid 5-6 hours. Showed him some pointers about the unique boat launch and then of we went. First bite came around 8:30. After a shaker I landed  a 25” and after that 10 shakers 8 were landed and released and 2 self released. Most were 14-19 inches. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get Elvin on any fish but we did get a chance to discuss halibut rigs and strategies. Still a fun day with decent action and some nice fillets to take home. Wondering if anyone had any theories about why there are so. Many small halibut and so few big ones in the bay right now?

Anyone fishing this Saturday? I’d be down for salmon and or rockfish. Would be able to fish Doran beach or Further north possibly TC or OC if rockfish are the main plan. Haven’t looked a the weather report yet.

Introductions / Newbie introduction
« on: May 04, 2021, 04:35:48 PM »
New to the forum and wanted to introduce myself. Longtime fisherman and local to the SF Bay Area. I’ve been mostly a bank fisherman for the past 7 years targeting Bass and stripers but have recently moved to Kayak fishing.

Met a few members at the opening of Rockfish Season this April and they recommended joining this forum.
