I have a brand new Garmin ECHOMAP UHD 94Sv with transducer that I need to sell. I ordered this and a different Raymarine unit but ended up going with the Raymarine. Willing to part with it for $1000. Brand new in box.

Added a new member to the fleet! A hobie passport 12’! Can’t wait to get her on the water. Trying to make a rack for my two kayaks to sit in... Found this one online, anyone have any experience with it? https://www.wildernesssystems.com/us/experience/team-blog/1/post/build-simple-kayak-rack-pvc

General Talk / Rockfish Gear
« on: February 27, 2021, 07:34:28 PM »
Can’t wait for April 1st. Finally will get to start rockfish season with a kayak of my own. Just got stocked up with gear from Pitbull Tackle. Fairly priced and quality gear for sure.

General Talk / Old Town Topwater 120 PDL
« on: February 13, 2021, 09:08:57 PM »
I noticed today that these were priced at $999.99 and went ahead and ordered one. Seemed like a good price for a peddle yak. Didn’t these used to be priced higher?

Kayak Diving and Spearfishing / Getting Started
« on: January 15, 2021, 02:08:16 PM »
Looking to order a few things to get started in free dive spearfishing... Any recommendations on necessities and specifics for type of dive suit, flippers, goggles, etc? I’ve got a good buddy in Monterey who dives a lot and he says that would be a good area to start practicing. I don’t plan on getting a spear gun or anything like that until I’ve free dove without any gear first.

General Talk / Jellyfish in Eyes
« on: December 22, 2020, 10:53:14 PM »
Just got home from HMB after hitting a sunset pull of pots (non kayak on a buddy’s 23’ grady white). We did quite well... 57 crabs in four pulled pots. 175 FOW about 6 miles north of the harbor.

After pulling our last pot, I made the mistake of rubbing my eyes with my sleeve which was drenched in the slime that covers the line from the pots. I’m told that this slime is from jelly fish and it would make sense seeing as thought how much irritation it causes when in contact with skin. However, this time I got it in my eyes. I didn’t feel it until about thirty seconds after I rubbed them. I then felt stabbing sensations all through both my eyes. I couldn’t see clearly at all for about 3 minutes. After three minutes the stabbing pain was still there but my vision was a little better.

I’m home now and have thoroughly rinsed my eyes. They’re still pretty dry and itchy with a slight burning sensation. Anyone have experience dealing with jellyfish slime in the eyes? Any tips?

General Talk / Kayak for Christmas Gift
« on: December 03, 2020, 10:37:47 AM »
This Christmas I really wanna give back to the person who introduced me to the sport of fishing and got me hooked, my father. I want to get him an entry level pedel kayak that is sturdy and rigged up for fishing. He’s about 5’ 11” and 280 pounds. Does anyone know of any good fishing yaks that aren’t TOO expensive but will get the job done?

For Sale / Crabbing Gear
« on: November 30, 2020, 09:57:37 PM »
For anyone looking, West Marine San Carlos is stocked up with all sorts of crabbing gear. I believe Hi’s Tackle in South City also has a very good selection right now as well.

General Talk / Ducer Mount Struggles!
« on: November 17, 2020, 06:15:48 PM »
Struggling to get transducer mounted solidly on my kayak... In the pics those screws that you can see are impossible to tighten down with transducer being in the way. Would I just used an angled philips screwdriver?

For Sale / Scotty Pieces
« on: November 11, 2020, 03:31:21 PM »
Selling two Scotty pieces that are brand new. I opened the boxes and it turns out they just won’t work out with my yak and I’ve found a more effective method to install the fish finder instead.

Scotty #272 Fishfinder Swivel Base $15
Scotty #141 Adjustable Transducer Arm w/ Gearhead Track Adapter $25

If bought together I’m willing to do $30 for both. They are both brand new, with all screws and extra pieces included. Boxes as well if wanted.

General Talk / Veteran’s Day fishing
« on: November 06, 2020, 06:36:47 PM »
Hey all! I’ve got the day off from school on Veteran’s Day. Was looking to take this as an opportunity to try my yak out in the ocean for the first time, probably just around the jaws in HMB. Swells are 5ft every 10 secs. Wind doesn’t look like it’ll go over about 6 knots until after 1. Are these considered safe conditions for a first time ocean launch?

For Sale / Two rods and a reel for sale
« on: October 28, 2020, 08:34:39 PM »
I’ve got three different items for sale here. Picked em up because I thought I’d be using them but never really needed them for anything.

I have a 7’ Medium Action Daiwa Laguna for sale. Never used. Still got tags and wrapping on. It’s missing the little ring from the top guide however. Must’ve gotten knocked off some time in my garage when I was moving my rods around. Selling for $25.

I also have a Penn Battle 2 5000 spooled up with 250 yards of blue 30lb braid that has been used once. I picked up a 4000 Daiwa BG instead and haven’t touched the Penn since. Selling for $100.

Last item I am selling is a 10’ Medium Light Okuma Rockaway. It’s got a busted tip but I replaced it and did an OK job glueing back on. Doesn’t look pretty but gets the job done. Used once. I had it paired up with the Penn Battle 2 but also just didn’t use it enough and replaced it with an 8’ 6” Okuma SST salmon rod instead. Selling for $60.

Let me know if you’d like any pics of these items or would like to negotiate price. Open to any suggestions price wise! I’d prefer cash, but venmo works as well. Open to local pickup/meetup in the San Mateo county area.

General Talk / Kayak Transportation
« on: October 28, 2020, 01:31:50 PM »
I’ve recently been struggling to find the proper way to mount my kayak to my Volvo XC60. I have horizontal crossbars that I can sit the yak on top of. I take two cambuckle straps, wrap one around the back crossbar and around the yak, then around the other side of the crossbar and buckle down. I do the same on the front rack. This make it feel pretty secure and stops it from moving, but I’m sure on a sudden stop or go, the kayak could move forward and back. Any tips on how I can secure it better? I was thinking of attaching two more straps to the front and back of the kayak and to the rear and front bumper but there’s nothing to attach to on the bumpers of my car. Would I be safe keeping around 60 mph with no front of back attachments and checking kayak security every few miles?
