I have a Shimano and a Penn that could use some help before GSX.

I was going to try to close the season out with a few more, but I'm having second thoughts at wasting a vacation day with this forecast.

FRI
S WINDS 20 TO 30 KT. WIND WAVES 4 TO 7 FT...DECREASING TO
3 TO 4 FT. NW SWELL 14 TO 17 FT. RAIN...THEN RAIN LIKELY.

Is anyone head up? I could scratch out a few a the fort but if things don't improve I'll go to work.

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / 3/3 Doran Beach Underwater Clean up

The 3rd annual clean-up, crab grab and potluck at Doran Beach is scheduled for Saturday, March 3, 2012.

If you let the guard shack know you are part of the Redwood Empire Divers Clean up they will waive the $6 day use fee.

This is an open invite to all with no requirement to RSVP, just show up and join fellow like minded coastal lovers and divers.

www.redwoodempiredivers.org is facilitating this event.

It will start at 8:30 with a volunteer sign-up and safety briefing.

Pot luck at 12:00 p.m. This is fun family friendly event for a good cause with some great camaraderie and potluck that typically includes lots of fresh dungeness crab.

I will be at the Doran Beach Jetty Day use at 8 am. There will be land lovers, free-divers and scuba-divers cleaning up. Bring your own clean up supplies, we like to be independent of the limited regional park staff. There will at least one boat and a few yaks for support. Plus it is a great way to give back to the ocean that brings us so much enjoyment.

See you all there. Bring a dish to share for the lunch potluck.

MARINE BIOLOGIST TO DISCUSS RECENT ABALONE DIE-OFF

Thursday, November 3rd, Redwood Empire Divers will feature Department of Fish & Game marine biologist, Jerry Kashiwada. His presentation will address the current abalone die-off that has occurred on our coast. He will present the latest available information regarding the die-off as well as any fishery management changes being considered because of this situation.

Jerry will then field questions from the audience.

The public is invited and there is no charge for the event.

AbChild, AbWoman and I are seriously considering adding AbLab to the family. I remember that lab puppy at BAM a few years back and think it would be a great addition to the family.

Puppy raising could start in early June when AbChild gets out of school for summer break.

Anyone have any leads on a litter of yellow labs that was recently born?

AbChild's first choice is a 9 week old white girl lab.

Other Lab tips are welcome...I'm currently reading Barron's Lab Handbook.

Just finished organizing my gear for the Ab opener and I'm fired up about the upcoming season..I always entertain great hope!

I'll be at GMS, Albion and all of these, mark your Calendars:

6/11/11 - Big Ab Big Ling - Manchester KOA.
8/20/11 - Big Ab - Ocean Cove, Also Cencal qualifier weigh-in may be the same day and location.
9/17/11 - Triton X - Sponsored by THe Freedive Shop.
10/8/11 - Randy Fry Memorial - Ocean Cove.

After going to these for years, I haven't got a 10" ab or a decent stringer, but it sure is cool to see what others can bag.

Let's see a good NCKA showing at these events, they are a blast.
