Stealth / FF Wiring Question
« on: December 13, 2022, 03:22:49 PM »
Hey All,

I’m trying to rig up my profisha 525 and I have a FF install question. How do you run your power/transducer lines out from the fish hatch to connect to the FF unit? It seems like the carbon fiber lid wouldn’t be able to handle running the wires underneath. It seems like it’s either too tight or would crack the CF. Any input would be great.

Thanks!

Stealth / Salmon Trolling
« on: October 19, 2022, 03:01:45 PM »
I’m thinking about getting a profisha 525, but am unsure how people go about trolling for salmon in them. Do y’all install a forward rod holder (what kind of install and where), hold it under your leg or use the rear rod holders (crazy?)? Any infor would be much appreciated.

For Sale / Sold - 2017 Hobie Outback and Kit
« on: September 18, 2022, 10:02:52 AM »
Hi All,

I’m moving and having to sell my entire kayak fishing setup. I would like to sell this all in one lot and not break it up please. Looking for $3000 for everything. There’s well over than value worth of equipment and tackle.

2017 hobie outback -yellow w/ turbo fins and square center hatch mod
Lowrance HDS 7 FF w/ all in one transducer (side scan included)
2 sets of wheels for launching (one hard for ramps and one for beaches)
Shark shield - last time I charged it (a year ago) it held a 4 hour charge
Kokatat hydrus gortex dry suit (size L)
Kokatat fishing PFD
36” kill bag
Large salmon net
Quick release anchor rigging
Wood gaff
2 crab rings w/ floats and lead core line
Kayak stands
Tons of various tackle (salmon, halibut, rockfish, freshwater) hog troughs, lead weights, etc.

Here are some pictures taken in my garage. Sorry for shitty quality. My house is being painted and there was scaffolding blocking my garage.

Let me know if you have any questions. Cheers.

So... all the salmon reports got me wanting to head out. Looks like the play is either Pacifica or Bolinas.

Anyone know of the parking situations at both locations?

Would probably head out Tuesday (although Tuesday at Linda Mar looks... sporty)

Thanks!

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / New Outback Rod Holder Locations(s)
« on: April 06, 2018, 09:36:24 PM »
So I just got my new outback and I’m tying to figure out where some good  locations are to mount a rod holder for trolling. I feel like the recessed areas by the map pockets are too thin walled to take the stress of trolling deep for salmon w/ a deep 6 or lead.

The space in front of the front (useless unless love bait fishing or dead sticking) seems like a good area, but it’s not very flat.

Any ideas guys?

Also, what kind do y’all like?

Cheers for the answers/ideas.

For Sale / 2015 Hobie Revo 13 (sold)
« on: March 30, 2018, 04:24:12 PM »
Hi All,

I've decided to buy a new Outback so I need to sell my current Revo. I'm looking to get $1200 for it.

It's a 2015 model, seen some miles and has normal wear and tear.

Also included with it are:

Custom downrigger/mount (attaches to the cupholder)

clam cleat for a quick release anchor system

A deep gear bucket.

The only things wrong that I know about are:

The gasket for the center twist and stow hatch is a little dry and needs to be replaced. It makes closing the hatch a little difficult. Simple fix, I just haven't ordered the part.

About a year ago one rubberband connection inside the vantage seat snapped. I repaired it with some zip ties and it's been as good as new since.

It also won't have a transducer cover on the bottom. I currently have a totalscan transducer cover on and and will be attaching it to the new 'yak. I'm not opposed to sending the one that comes on the outback when it arrives.

Here are some photos, let me know what you think.

Cheers,
Dave

General Fishing Tips / Rod Tip Repair
« on: June 01, 2015, 10:49:55 AM »
My rod tip on one of my lamiglas rods got bent. The blank is ok, it's just the guide that needs to be replaced. I looked up on the interwebs about replacing it myself. Looks straightforward.

The problem is when I look at the tip of my rod.. It looks like there is some sort of clear coat that I'm not sure if simply heating it will release it.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Cheers. Thanks,
Dave

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Rod Holder
« on: December 06, 2014, 10:27:23 AM »
Random question. What are your favorite rod holders for trolling for salmon? I had a cannon in my last kayak, not sure of the model, which wasn't bad. Looking for an upgrade for the new kayak.

cheers,
Dave

So I ordered a new kayak. Have to sell my current one.

I'm also throwing in an orange Avet SX right handed reel.

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Dragonfly Battery Question
« on: November 16, 2014, 06:13:20 PM »
I bought a dragonfly 7 the other day. Was reading specs online and it said it's operating voltage range is 10.8-15.6v. I have a 12v battery that I used for my elite 4 hdi. Will I need to get a bigger battery for this unit to function correctly or will the 12v battery be sufficient?

Thanks for the responses.

General Fishing Tips / Jig Heads
« on: October 23, 2014, 03:07:10 PM »
Does anyone know where to get painted 3-4 oz jig heads online?

The biggest I can find is 2 oz. I feel like I can't keep a 2 oz head near the bottom.

Thanks!

Which would be the best one for ocean kayak fishing? 83/200 or the 50/200?

Thanks,
