Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Feelfree trolling motor upgrade question
« on: April 06, 2021, 02:19:48 PM »
I recently purchased a Moken 12.5 V2. I've seen a lot of different motor mods and I'm interested in the Yak Gadget mounting system that is used in the sonar pod hole. Has anyone used this system? What are your Pro/Con thoughts?

Still easy pickings for Kokanee. Launched at Dark Day at 8:00. Headed towards Willow Creek but never made it that far. Found a huge School with fish stacked from 15 to 35 feet. Made about 15 passes through it and had my limit by 11:00. The fish are getting bigger, average is 10 inches now.

Great weather. Water like glass until the light wind came up about noon. Launched @ 9:00 at Dark Day. Started fishing just past the buoy line and paddled to the back of the Willow Creek arm. Limited by 1:00. Most fish came from the back of Willow Creek. Typical 9-10" fish but did manage to get one nice 12". Lots of short strikes and had 5-6 come off at the boat. Used a Paulina Peak Mirco Hoochie in hot pink and a watermelon Apex at 15-30'.

The maiden voyage was a success. Love the new yak. Very stable and tracks well. Fishing was a little harder at Bullards Bar Saturday. Most likely due to the passing weather front. Got my limit of Kokanee but had to search for them. They were scattered in small pods at 40'. Never found a big ball of them. I expect it to return back to normal in a few days of nice weather. Then it will be back to limits in a few hours.

I've been Kayaking for a couple of years now. I currently have a Ocean Frenzy that I've learned on and used to fish the local lakes and rivers with. This kayak will soon be for sale. I've just purchased a Feelfree Moken 12.5 V2. Planning on its maiden voyage this weekend. Headed to Bullards Bar for some Kokanee.
