My name is Mike McGuinness (mikemcg). I have recently gotten into spearfishing and am pretty much hooked. After some limited success around home on the Westside of Santa Cruz, I hooked up with Big Jim (best mentor ever) and friends on a few outings down to the Carmel area.  I have been using a Rob Allen 70 cm rail gun and recently got hooked up with a 13' Cobra Navigator kayak with depth finder and GPS.

I am looking forward to Ab diving in Albion in August for the first time. I am still getting comfortable with free diving and learning/improving each time I go out. I been getting mostly blue and black rockfish with a few lingcod and cabezon.  I work as a firefighter, so my schedule is flexible and changes. I am available to dive on weekdays and weekends with those that might want to go out. I have been very impressed with how friendly and encouraging everyone I have met in this new sport has been and I am looking forward to being a part of the spearfishing community/brotherhood. Thanks!
