Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Halibut Monterey
« on: May 17, 2020, 12:10:50 PM »
Thinking about Thursday, wind looks good. Fish off the cannery, for Halibut. The more the merrier. Or if anyone has any fishing report for Halibut in Monterey that isn't the hotel, I would love to hear them.
Thanks all

The last few day there has been a large fleet of boats off of Pacific Grove. Anyone know what they are catching, doesn't look like squid?

Thanks

Craftsmen's Corner / Lowrance scupper mount
« on: January 10, 2017, 03:44:42 PM »
Does anyone have any experience with the Lowrance Scupper mount transducer kit? I am using a through hull set up now but would like to switch to the scupper. My other boat has a scupper mounted Humminbird which works out great. I want to install the scupper mounted transducer by lowrance on an OK T 13. Any help is appreciated. Kits are 40 bucks

General Talk / Fund raiser for fellow NCKA
« on: November 15, 2016, 10:59:18 AM »
I am not sure how to do this, but I know that there are folks in this club that do know how.
Let's set up a donation collection of some kind for Sweetie, bait masters dog.
Refer to his post, she was attacked by another dog and he is stuck with a huge bill. Anyone who knows how to do a fund collection, let's make it happen for a fellow fisherman and dog lover.

General Fishing Tips / HMB crab
« on: October 30, 2016, 10:45:28 AM »
Hey folks, I am looking to soak a pot in HMB. I am trying to only use a single shot of rope, which is why HMB. I have Crabbe around monterey and santa cruz in a power boat but want to launch the Yak, hit some rocks and drop a pot. Without disclosing family secrets or honey holes, where is an easy spot to drop a pot? I am hearing just north of the jetty is ok. Don't know if I will hit the opener, but I will be crabbing again this year, especially after the DA shut down last year.
Any way tight lines and heavy pots to everyone. And thanks for the advice.

Craftsmen's Corner / Crab pots
« on: October 06, 2016, 08:17:10 PM »
After reading the new crab pot requirements, I am throughly confused. I need to add an additional destruct escape port? My lid is closed with destruct cotton  and a bungee. Will this suffice? It seems a bit strange that I need to add a closed hatch that is held by cotton when my 26 inch diameter lid is held by cotton. Am I miss reading this.

General Fishing Tips / Bait monterey
« on: September 12, 2016, 03:02:27 PM »
I was out looking for bait today, so I drove by the Compass.... it was closed and had a Coldwell Banker sign where the shop sign used to be. I felt sad, I loved that little shop. So next I went to Lopez Liquor across from the warf, and they only had squid, as I already have a lot of squid, I didn't buy any. Then I had an idea, I drove to the end of the commercial pier to the seafood markets. I was prepared for sticker shock but to my surprise, it was fairly priced. I walked out of there with 1 pound of Anchovies for $1.50. They have squid, fresh stuff getting there at 230pm. Today. Mackrel, fish heads, bones and other bait. I have found my new spot!!! Finally. Just drive down and park 8n front of the markets for free, don't pay for parking. I am chasing halibut tomorrow and have a pound of Anchovies and a pound of squid.

General Talk / Need to borrow a yak
« on: August 24, 2016, 10:19:46 PM »
Hey everyone. I am looking for a tandem to borrow. My Dad wants to paddle around Elkhorn Slough and take some pictures. I only have the OK T13. If anyone has a tandem we can borrow please let me know. We would need a paddle and a pfd. But those don't have to come from the same place.
Thanks everyone

Craftsmen's Corner / Need handyman help.
« on: July 09, 2016, 06:48:58 PM »
Undertaking a remodel in Pacific Grove. I am stuck at work (wildland fireman) and need some help. I am going to have to pay to get some stuff done since I am stuck at work for what seems like will probably be until september.
Anyway, my poor wife needs some help putting new appliance valves on the washing machine connections at the wall. The cold will not budge and the hot leaks. They should be compression fittings. I need to run a lateral line off my gas line to the new gas oven. And need to install 2 new windows.
If anyone wants work, or knows a guy. Please hit me up. I know how to do all this stuff but just can't, with work. Just because I live in Pacific Grove does not mean I am Rich. It's actually quite to the contrary.
