Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Skunked
« on: April 11, 2005, 09:00:44 AM »
Hi Steve:

Me and a buddy launched from Loch Lomond Marina at about 10AM.  I hadn't fished with him before but he's a strong guy and I needed some horsepower to power my new Hobie Mirage Tandem.  We trolled all the way to San Quentin, back to the pilings, the pier, the islands pulling a lot of hardware, including 3" big hammers, broken back rap, krocodiles, and an assortment of spoons, shallow running cranks, and plugs.  Needed some more intel the area, as we just could not find them.

On a better note, the boat flies.  It's very fast, but a little on the wet side.  Even in 1' windwaves, I had water come over the bow and sides on me plenty of times.  I thought it would be drier.  It's a decent fishing platform though and stable enough.  Buddy stood up when we were on the leeward side of the islands, and he's 6'3".  Freaked me out, but we didn't end up in the drink!

Good weather conditions initially, off the wate @ 2:30 when it started whitecapping.

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Mounting Rod Holder 101
« on: April 05, 2005, 03:49:13 PM »
I need a retard-proof protocol (preferably w/ pictures) for mounting both flush AND scotty rod holders to a hobie mirage tandem.

I'll start w/ just the two rod holders.  I'm taking suggestions for sequence, placement, etc. for the next 24 hours and then I'm busting loose w/ my dremel tool.  So gimme your tips asap.

thx!

Have you guys checked out this site?  I'm on the fence about the utility of such a thing, and it might turn out to be too distracting at work.  On the other hand, I'd like to see the look on the boss's face were he to walk into my office and hear "HOOK UP!!" screaming over the speakers.

Hey All:

Looking for someone to fish my Perception Synchro tandem w/ me the week of the opener.  Last year w/ Stu, Chuck and the boys I paddled that thing myself out of Moss Landing but I'm not looking to do that again, at least not until I've got some more trips under my belt on the season.

I've got a guy I fish w/ but he weighs a ton.  Just deadweight not suitable for a long distance paddle.

Anybody know somebody who wants to fish my open seat?  If so, network it for me.  I don't mind taking a kayak rookie, so long as they're reasonably fit, knows how to fish, and won't puke out on the pond.

Thanks,

Martin

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / I'm w/ you!

I didn't yak it, but rented a row boat w/ two buddies - we all ditched work last week b/c of spring fever.

I'm loosing interest in Loch Lomond.  It's just so hit or miss.  needless to say, we didn't get a single hit - not even on the bed fish.  Maybe they weren't bed fish afterall!  But then, I was fishing w/ two total barnies.  One friend was throwing a true action lure!  hahaha.

But I'll always harken back to the LL opener in '04.  It was WFO on trout.  We trolled the entire lake and couldn't keep em off the lines.  Kastmasters, spinners, raps, even 3 in big hammers were getting hit.  That day is the reason I keep coming back.  Plus its just so gorgeous!
