Get the regs.   You can get a license online, but I think you have to have a paper license for halibut.   Been a few years since I towed up.   Get some large circle hooks for halibut.   George’s Bank near Pt. Hardy is supposed to be good for halibut.  I only hooked small ones.  Have him visit Telegraph Cove.   Neat little village.   Look at SportfishingBC.com for some local comments,  good forum.   Not much in Port Hardy anymore.   Rockfish limit was pretty limited.   Was way overfished.   People would come up for a month and get a limit or two each day and can and freeze each day.  Ignored limits.   A crab snare might be a good option to take.   Salmon Point is a really nice marina.

There is a pro angler 14 on ifish for sale.   Looks like has an original Hobie seat and not the raised seat. $2500

I fished that area as a kid.   Grew up in El Cerrito.   Plugging along the rocks, when I had my
Valco, produced stripers.

If squid ink is a protein, spray with hydrogen peroxide.  Also removes bloodstains from clothes.

Thinking of getting solar for the camper.   Use a Yamaha 2000i now.   Not bigger than the battery setups.   So can chage camper and everything else.

Have not been on here much since I sold my Outback and went inflatable Hobie.   Missed this thread,   Great job Sledge!

Great deal.   I paid $4800 for two in 2017.   They fit in the back seat in their bags of my Crewcab GMC.   We use them a lot at small lakes, and Mission Bay, San Diego.   They can be oversized airline check baggage.

Used to trailer the boat up there.   East side of the island is protected waters.   Big tides.   Some nice swimming beaches on sunny days.   13’ tide, lets the sands warm up and warm swimming waters.   Don’t restrict yourself to rivers.   Never did the Sunshine Coast, but looked at it.   Some good fishing.   Check the regs.   Lots of mlpa areas, and rockfish can be really restricted.   Don’t know the salmon regs anymore, but are not as liberal as used to be.  Good resource is

I have the inflatable, looking at the plastic boat.   The inflatables fit in the back seat of the 2500 GMC.

General Talk / Hobie pedals?
« on: April 15, 2024, 09:15:16 AM »
I have i11s inflatable Hobie.   Thinking of getting another Outback for shadow cliffs.   Are the pedals the same?   Was thinking of looking for an Outback mixing pedals.   Got rid of my Outback when I got the camper and not going to put on top.   But for local, rack on car.

Being an engineer, I was impressed with the cutting foam insulation and glue for the prototypes.  Not sure about the foot run paddle being very efficient.
