I've seen a couple that size pulled up on a party boat near the Farallon Islands. Deckhand stuck it into one of the igloo coolers. Poor thing kept trying to get out.

General Talk / Re: West Marine clearance ó Daiwa Lexa 100 LC
« on: March 01, 2024, 04:47:25 PM »
Extra 25% off clearance. They have a Lexa 400 for $173. Bought 2 saltiga rods.

How do the other reels your using compare to this one. Been thinking of getting one for deep water.
What made you sell this on compared to the others ?? Cheers

I have two other electric reels. I have another Shimano Forcemaster 600 aside from the one I'm currently selling to Sonny. The other one I have is the Daiwa Seaborg G300J. Both are great reels and really compact and light and are great for jigging.
I have a number of JDM reels but got sold on the electric variety once I started using them in deep water. On some of the party boats, I outfished most people using heavy jigs. Having a clear lcd screen, you can tell the depth and how much line is left when pulling fish up. Also I really like the fact that the reel stops reeling automatically 6-8ft from the boat.
Fishing with electric reels is a totally different experience.

I am serious interested  :smt003

Cool. PM your details to me. I'm in Palo Alto.

Thanks for sharing. Iíve never seen one like that. Looks high tech

I was actually surprised that it was made in Japan being not so expensive. Well constructed and works well when loading onto my tall FX35 Suv.

Will join if I'm not traveling at that time. Likely will be though.

Thanks all for the valuable info. Looks like I'll be buying one of the suits soon in time for the season.

Outdoorplay has sales on drysuits fairly often. This is the one I have been using for about 6 years: https://www.outdoorplay.com/products/kokatat-supernova-angler-gore-tex-pro-dry-suit

That looks like a good deal. A question. Is it advised to get a size up (M -> L), if wearing layers underneath?

It seems to me that the Odyssey is overkill unless you want to be like Mr. X. Kokatat has several other models that would be within your price range.

I donít know where you can try them on, but that doesnít seem critically important to me. As for getting questions answered, Iíd think that right here would be the best place for that.

I mentioned the Odyssey since I was looking for something durable.
I guess my questions were based on sizes that would fit me. I'm between a M and L and I had questions around how many layers I could wear underneath or what kind of base layers to get based on a specific kind of drysuit.
For ocean kayaking, is it okay to have a semi dry suit with say neoprene gaskets as opposed to latex and not be worried about water intrusion when immersed? For comfort around the neck, is neoprene more comfortable than latex?

Looking to get a good drysuit. I was looking at the Odyssey GoreTex suit by Kokatat but the price tag makes my jaw drop. Didn't want to spend more than 1200 maybe.
Any recommendations on a place to try on a drysuit and where I can get some of my questions answered?
