General Talk / 1000th Post Thanks+Report
« on: February 27, 2022, 08:38:34 PM »
Back in February 2016, I told Bushy I was ready to buy a fishing kayak. He told me to come over to his garage. Before we shook hands over the deal (carbon fiber paddle, PFD, and a kayak filled with good fishing karma), Allen said “you have to promise me that you’ll join NCKA!” GLAD I DID :smt001

Figured I’d make my 1000th post a fishing report: :smt004
2/26/22-Went out of MBK Saturday morning in search of bait and the early season halibut. I rigged up a bait jig on one rod and a trap rig on the other. Water was a chilly 53 degrees, the cold front just finished but it wasn’t warm. Found some marks that turned out to be smallish blue rockfish. Moved around a bit and the blues found me again. Paddled in shallow and found a “ball” of bait on the FF that wouldn’t bite. Trolled a Lucky Craft behind the breakers on the way in for a few strands of eel grass and some kelp.
All in all, good first shakedown trip of the year and everything works, including me. Just not the part of me that catches the target species… yet.

Thanks for having me around for 1000 posts, I know I’ve read way more than that. Thanks way more for the friends I’ve made! You’ve helped me become a better kayak angler, a better cook, but the advice that’s served me best over the last 6 years was, “JUST DON’T SUCK!”

Fished every color stick bait north for 2 hours
Tried every color grub back south another 2
Found good structure and worked hard, didn’t find any biting fish I guess

I wanna fish Wednesday morning if anyone has a better suggestion on location and presentation

For Sale / Black Angus Cows
« on: August 24, 2020, 11:25:03 AM »
*Reached a solution*
*Thank you all for your caring support*

Sadly, my landlady lost most of everything to fire.
On Saturday we tended to the herd once more and sold 10 of 13 cows to 101 Livestock auction
Their pasture above Coastways Ranch is burnt along with the water system
We have 1 going to be processed in a few days which was our original intention for that particular animal but 2 bull calves remain and can no longer keep them there and have no other place for them.
We have an animal trailer and truck for transport.
PM me for any other info

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Not King for a day
« on: June 12, 2020, 02:02:47 PM »
Went Holoholo style this morning
For those who might not know, in Hawaiian tradition (I’m not Hawaiian) if you tell your family and friends that you’re going fishing, the pukas and lava tubes leading to the ocean carry your vocal intentions to the fish. They know. They don’t bite.
I tried today imploring this way of going about my business.
I caught a fish on every squid I put down, one small Black Rockfish and the rest cookie cutter kingfish.
The wind was against me going out and against me coming in.
Saw Bushy on the beach and NowhereMan OTW.
Had an AWESOME paddle!!

General Talk / Steepest Wind Waves
« on: March 01, 2020, 06:52:04 AM »
These are the largest Wind Waves forecasted I think I've seen in my local area

N winds 20 to 30 kt with gusts up to 40 kt. Wind waves
17 to 19 ft. NW swell 6 to 7 ft at 15 seconds and S around 2 ft
at 17 seconds.

Funny too cause I was in the SC Harbor yesterday talking about the upcoming salmon season.  I good friend said we just need a good blow to generate some upwelling.
