For Sale / 2010 Hobie Revo 13 (SOLD)
« on: September 26, 2017, 05:43:35 PM »
In great shape. V2 drive, turbo fins. Regular rudder. (not the sailing rudder pictured). Paddle included.
JB Weld on hull ends is for preventative purposes, NOT a repair.
See photos.
QRAS on the right side.
One seat strap broke off, so I used paracord. See photos. The rudder needs an adjustmemt to tighten it up. I'm sure there are Youtube video instructions on how to tighten.

Kayak Diving and Spearfishing / Sea Ranch recommendation?
« on: September 13, 2017, 12:56:18 PM »
Already did a search, and didn't find anything on point.

I was wondering if anyone has a recommendation for an access point for shore diving in Sea Ranch.  Not looking for honey hole info- just an access point, where to park, etc. to explore on my own.  Thanks .

I normally dive Mendo, but recently explored Sea Ranch.  I didn't know where to go initially, because all the roads were private, except for the public coastal access roads. We explored Stengel Beach, but was disappointed by the infestation of sea urchins and with no ab population other than occasional abalone.  I suppose I could try the remaining 3 public coastal access roads, but I probably won't have time to explore them all.  I'll explore, but would like to save some time if you have a shore dive launch site to recommend.

Craftsmen's Corner / Maintenance day. Hobie seat and ff position
« on: September 09, 2017, 04:25:09 PM »
Mother nature foiled my plans for fish&dive at OC, so did some maintenance, and then took the wife out to brunch.

The Hobie seat strap broke after my last outing @ Tomales. So instead of buying another for $150, repaired it with some rope. Then used a pool noodle to reinforce the back for additional lumbar support and weight support.

The FF I installed, I found out while fishing TC that it scrapes against my MirageDrive if I am not careful. So I used some plastic cutting board from the Dollar store to move it 3 inches to the right. Then went to brunch with the wife.

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Pigtail connector for battery
« on: August 20, 2017, 12:07:23 AM »
Was going to purchase a 2 way pigtail connector for my battery, and noticed that the retailer sells 18 gauge SXL wire, 14 gauge GXL wire, and 16 AWG wires.  Which do I need?
I'm guessing one is overkill since it is not for automotive use or high stress environments.
Austin Kayak does sell a "Hobie pigtail" with 12' of wire for $16, and it doesn't even come with a female end.

Also, where can I find gel-filled wire connectors?

Thx in advance.

General Talk / Recommendation needed for pigtail connector
« on: December 05, 2015, 12:02:09 PM »
I want to use pigtail connector for my battery connection and need advice.

I looked on Ebay, and there are different gauges for 2 pin connectors. Which gauge is appropriate? If u have links for where I can purchase, even better! I only need one set. Much appreciated!

« on: November 11, 2015, 03:53:18 PM »
It was my main yak til I bought my Revolution 13 two yrs ago, then I stopped yakking. I think it's 2009 or 2010. Will check serial# later. It is the twist-n-Lock version, not the drop-in drive. Comes with seat, drive, Eagle FF (b/w),
Not sure what it's worth, so $900 or best offer.

Ask away if u got questions. Will be in meetings til 9pm, so will reply when I can. Live in pleasanton, work in Santa clara.

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Power cable question- yellow
« on: November 10, 2015, 11:49:10 PM »
FF: Lowrance 5x Chirp with GPS

I'm not good with electronics, so give me some advice please. On the power cable, the yellow colored cable is the ground, right? After I connect the black and red cables to the connector and battery, what do I do with the yellow?
