Those are great pics! I can't believe they kept paddling in with their rods out like that, must be a SoCal thing :smt005
I wonder how many busted rods there were that day?
The guy in the first pic totally looks like he's going to make it but then...
Fun thread.

Well,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I certainly feel better,
I don't understand the rods in the air unless each one of them figured they were more skilled than the rest, I did the full blown yard sale and snapped a rod one time, and that sand filled reel will never be the same, now I don't care how smooth it looks, everything gets stowed.
Great pics for sure

Classic, love the shot of the boy laughing it up....

I'm usually the last one through the surf after helping my friends. Somehow I made it through this wave. I did lose my net though. The funny thing about this one is that when I made it though, my buddy got so excited he jumped up and fell out of his boat.

Great way to start your postings, the one of the little guy is priceless
-
The pictures were taken at Refugio State Beach near Santa Barbara. That trip was especially brutal. Out of 10 passes though the surf, I think I dumped it 5 times. Fortunately, I did a lot of reading on this site prior to our trip, so I had everything stowed inside that I could. On the last trip in, I was carrying 5 hoop nets all zip tied together and zip to the milk crate. It felt like I did and endo' over the front...zip ties came apart...hoop nets went everywhere and I ended up losing one.
The little guy is my son at 3 y/o. He loves watching us go through the waves.

Here is my entry from the Washington. This was out at Hobuck Bay, just off the very north west tip of the state.
I was just happy to stay on top of my P-13

that looked freaking Awesome!!! u landed and no yard sale??? Nice...
-
Definitely wasn't a 10 point landing but managed to pop out in about a foot and a half of water and keep the Yak upright ... I did catch my had on the jig on my rod. Pulled my hat off then a wave knocked my glasses off, even with a band on them. They were the one casualty of the landing.
And yes now I stash my rods in heavy surf landings!!
-
awsome photos
-
in Florida I crashed almost every time. Not bad in 85 degree water but the beach would be full of people watching me...
-
:smt044 :smt044 :smt044
Dang I lost about $600 worth of glasses and a lot of other stuff doing s@#t like this. Still really hard to remember to stow EVERYTHING and bail out when its a shore break. Seems like when it gets bad my A$$ gets glued to the seat and I get the woopin, very hard to jump out. Worst yet was at Limekiln (on a calm day) two years ago rode onto the sand then got picked up by the next wave, my ribs still hurt.
Word to the wise superman it.

I scrolled though the whole thread. I have imitated each of those pics at least once. Hahahaha. Crashing is my specialty.

The lime yak next to you looks like it's getting some big air
I think the boat hit me. Something did.
Its difficult to tell watching the video. Saving the footage for a larger project.
-
That's (one of the reasons) why I never go through the surf at the same time as my partner!!

The lime yak next to you looks like it's getting some big air
Saving the footage for a larger project.
Looking forward to it.....those pics are pure surf carnage!

Hahaha. Good thing i dont hav pics of my yak fails. Lol [emoji24]

I had my worst dump in Los Barrillos on the East Cape back in 2009. Swell was doable and I didn't know my kayak had a "water ballast" inside. Theresa launched fine and I bit it more than once, till I opened the hatch and drained the water out of it. Then launching and recovering was a breeze.
Even though it is no fun to "garage sale," I miss the ocean. :smt010
