Waited patiently after many yrs of doing without to help put my boys through college. Now that they are doing well and somewhat comfortable, it's papa's time again.

General Talk / My newest kayak 😁😁😁
« on: April 24, 2024, 11:28:21 AM »
As I am getting later in yrs, :smt002 I find myself alternating more often to my boats on less than ideal conditions on the water.

I mostly fish freshwater on the kayaks unless conditions are favorable on the big blue.

So this is my latest toy that should be ready for the big blue. Complete tune up and fluid changes before she ventures out.

1802 trophy with a whopping 115 hp 4 stroke. :smt007

General Fishing Tips / Re: mm thickness for farmer john style wetsuit
« on: April 16, 2024, 04:15:07 PM »
I was looking for a thicker than 3mm neoprene farmers John myself. Couldn’t find any at the time. Decided to get a neoprene top (also from NRS) which I like very much since I can take it off if I’m too hot.
But feet were still cold. Especially when wading for too long waiting for the sets. I ended up getting dry pants to go over the wetsuit. It works very well. The only thing I haven’t tested is how much water the pants would get if I’m immersed (since the pants aren’t combined with a dry jacket). But so far this hasn’t been an issue. Plus, I usually take off the dry pants after launching.

I use neoprene socks on colder days with my neoprene boots. I prefer the shorty socks. easier to take off .

For those of us that cannot make the pilgrimage. This was planned first too! :smt044 :smt044 :smt044

More than likely see you there, Ron.

As much as i would like to see some NCKA members at Shelter, it makes no sense for me to make such a long drive for just halibut if that's all that will be open.

Especially with all that Monterey bay has to offer and it is only 15 minutes away. Crossing my fingers, I will be looking at a 20 ft bayrunner kayak tomorrow.  :smt002 :smt002

Last I seen mentioned they are priced out of range for most sport crabbers, let alone trying to purchase numerous ones.

On top of a 20% loss rate in a opinion I read.

Why would anybody doubt ZZ Top ……. :walk: :sunny: :glasses2: :glasses9:
As a bonus the arms pair well with both a ball cap and my wide brim sun hat.

Pretty much always donning a hat when out in the sun.

As long as they don't come up with that ridiculous proposal of ropeless remote traps. Then its all over. :smt013

I am sure not a popular response but enjoying 5 months of crab is more than enough for me(sport). Just my opinion. I guess my opinion would change with season not opening in November as scheduled.

I think it is more of a hit for commercial guys.
