Gonna hopefully not wreck da stealth.  I've been whippin' a swimbait to no success but gonna stick with it.  I've been using my 3lb. chain to drag in tough current to throw against the tide but my trolley is on the starboard side only.  I'm going to install another trolley on the port side.  Reason, to use the chain on one side and the sea anchor(chute) on the other to achieve certain steady positioning in the bay for this technique.  Kinda bringing the kitchen sink without the space.  Also installing the Pacific Action Sail on the stealth for whatever "fun" reason.  I blame Mr. X for the inspiration though I'm gonna keep it way local.  SFbay Muir Tomales Bolinas and hopefully Ft. Ross due to regs and hope to fish with Moo... :smt006.  Opinons and ideas on simplicity and efficacy and straight up brainstorming...no response is required but technical and philosophical input is desired.  Love this place!  NCKA alll day! :smt007 :smt006

It might be time to go the Dark Side mode. Hobie Revo with the optional Hobie sail. It can keep you stationary with the mirage drive, sleek enough with the kayak width, and attachment for a sail. 😂

Eddie, 40 yrs ago I grew up on the Chesapeake bay and Atlantic ocean sailing with my brothers, best drogue we ever deployed in high wind and current was a small tire with nylon rope. think of how much control you get get and it wouldn't damage your kayak. Plus we were too cheep to spend any money.

Nothing on the swimbait?

Slow down the retrieve...I don't have it down like wizard yet, but can hold my own now. Come out in the boat

Thanks gman1.  Interesting on the small tire.  1 ft diameter could fit on da yak.  Not sure I'd have any friends left though...there's that guy with tire...what?  Is he preparing for a flat...or a flattie :smt007 :smt005 :smt006

You don't need to modify your super nice, light kayak to sail or drag chains or tires around.
It does what it does very well.

If you want to sail get a sailboat!

Was out on this today and it sailed great.

Hey Eddie,

Over the last few years when we have fished together in the bays you have always used live bait. I'm guessing that you are trying to simplify things by switching to swim baits. Might just be a learning curve you are going through.

When I use swim baits I just go with the current, and try to keep the SB about a foot off the bottom. I try to position myself so I can see the SB on my Fish finder. At some point I will need to go against the current and I will troll a Lucky Craft minnow. Seems like a lot of people like to cast and retrieve so that's another option.

You know I will fish with you anytime. The halibut I'm holding in my avatar is the first keeper halibut I caught in my kayak. It was on Memorial day 5 years ago with live bait you gave me.

Tides next Monday are looking great.

Eddie you probably saw this coming

Just an opinion but not sure why anyone would want to start adding things to the topsides of a yak like this

The whole point of any yak like the stealth is…?
