Nice ass ling! but IMO it should of been released....just saying...beat me up if ya want but I'm from the big state!  Hope you like them eggs for breakfast !!

Looking back on it, I agree. But it was my first monster ling and I had to keep it. To make up for it, I just released this +-40 incher....

Hobie Kayaks / Re: Revo or Outback for ocean use
« on: June 05, 2014, 10:36:24 AM »
Definitely the Revo for the ocean. I put a ton of miles on my Outback in the ocean and it was great, but I recently switched to a Revo and its much nicer. You will get to your fishing grounds faster, cutting through the waves and chop instead of slamming against it. I also feel much safer knowing i can paddle back to the launch if I have a Mirage failure. There were many times in the outback when I was pedaling back against a strong wind/chop, knowing that if the drive failed, I would not be able to paddle against it for miles (I tried).

The Outback is a great kayak though. I would say its a better overall fishing platform. It doesnt have the performance of the Revo, but sometimes you dont need performance. I traded my Outback for a Revo, but I would really like to have one of each.

Most likely the Columbia river. I guess there are a few lakes up here that have them, but i hear they aren't as big as the ones in the river. I haven't done a lot of research yet.

How strict are we being about the catch and release photos? Will they be dq'd if the mouth isnt closed completely? Can there be lip grips or hooks in their mouths?

General Talk / Re: Kind of bothers me.

Happened to me at the gas station a couple weeks ago (someone pumps our gas for us in Oregon). The guy hit his head on my "canoe" as he was walking around. It doesnt bother me nearly as much as when people call my truck a car. It is a small 2 wheel drive nissan, but still a truck.

pulled this guy up this summer. Thought I was hung up on the bottom. Tried to break it off and finally pulled it loose.

My biggest cabbie from last year (or ever). 28 inches. Had an almost legal sized crab in its stomach.

Introductions / New guy from Coos Bay, OR
« on: February 22, 2014, 07:27:14 PM »
Hey guys, my name is Evan Merz. I've lived on the southern Oregon coast my whole life. I've been a member of NWKA for a few years now. I've learned a lot there, so I thought I would check things out here. I'm sure I will learn some things and hopefully make some new fishing buddies. I have an Outback and am about to get a Revo or Addy. I was at ORC last year, if any of you made it up. I might try to attend the GS this year if things work out right.  :smt001
