First rod my dad wrapped was a fenwick trout rod that was fished out of Lake Cachuma (who knows how long it was down there) and he rebuilt it with sewing thread and proceed to catch a 12lb pacific bonito on it when we were pier fishing one day round about 1980. Rod looked like junk, but he loved it and it worked so well. I'll see if I can get a pic of it, as I may still have it in my "sentimental gear" collection!
As long as it caught fish don’t matter lol sometimes the ugly ones are the good ones lol
