I'm heading out tomorrow at HMB or Linda Mar/Rockaway in the hopes of getting crab for the big family dinner on Christmas Eve. Any recent reports or guidance on which spot might be better?

Can't help, but I am planning to do the same thing up here in Mendoland. Similarly confused about where to go in!

As far as Pacifica goes Rockaway has been better for me than Linda Mar for crab this year.
Haven't crabbed HMB yet this year but was thinking about trying it tomorrow since the surf might be a little too sporty eith all that gear. I'm going to check the surf in the AM and make the call

Thanks, everyone.  :smt006

Launched from Rockaway around 8:30.  The surf was pumping and my kayak got flipped as I was wading it out through the shorebreak.  Five weighted traps sure make the boat prefer to be upside down. Fortunately everything stayed put and I got out without further incident.

Crabbing was slow and it seem to be better about a mile out, in 55 feet of water. I ended up coming home with five dungeness and five rock crab, plus jacksmelt for bait. No jumbos, but it should be enough to feed everyone.

Nice to see you out there yesterday KPD.  :smt006
I also flipped in the shore break wading out before I could even jump in my boat. It was a tangled mess an another 30 minutes at least until I could launch again. Lost a bait jar and weight in one trap and had to ditch it back at my truck.
I admire your perseverance trying to get your family some crab. I tried catching some rockfish but was getting pushed off my spot pretty quick by the breeze and swell. I pulled my pots and kept a few jumbo rock crabs. At least I nailed the landing. There was a huge set just as I was going to come in but I barely managed to pull back and wait it out. Definitely have more confidence launching/landing in that spot now.

Woah if you flipped it must of been really gnarly.  I remember the day I flipped 2xs trying to launch at Bolinas and you just coolly timed it all and were in and on your way.
