This was planned first too! More than likely see you there, Ron. As much as i would like to see some NCKA members at Shelter, it makes no sense for me to make such a long drive for just halibut if that's all that will be open. Especially with all that Monterey bay has to offer and it is only 15 minutes away. Crossing my fingers, I will be looking at a 20 ft bayrunner kayak tomorrow. 34

Last I seen mentioned they are priced out of range for most sport crabbers, let alone trying to purchase numerous ones.
On top of a 20% loss rate in a opinion I read. 35

As long as they don't come up with that ridiculous proposal of ropeless remote traps. Then its all over.

I am sure not a popular response but enjoying 5 months of crab is more than enough for me(sport). Just my opinion. I guess my opinion would change with season not opening in November as scheduled.
I think it is more of a hit for commercial guys. 38
General Talk / Re: Sunglasses that I highly recommend« on: April 01, 2024, 02:19:22 PM »Been wearing Pyramex Ztek glasses for years. $2-3 a pair. Looked them up. UV protection. I'm in..Look like ones that are supplied to me at work Honestly, fishing sunglasses are almost disposable to me. I tend to damage them quickly. I have found adequate ones at walmart for about five bucks. Also UV rated. I am also not a fashionista. So fit is more important than look. Sincerely, El Cheapo 39
General Talk / Re: Scammers« on: March 27, 2024, 07:05:39 PM »yah, it's crazy right now. Tough enough for those of use with our minds still working well. My father is having memory issues etc. and unfortunately has fallen for some of these scams. Yes. I speak regularly with my Dad about scam calls and emails. Glad he calls and asks me what I think. He almost fell for a Las Casita, R.V. trailer scam. It was at a ridiculously low price in southern cal. If it sounds to good to be to true.... 40

Did notice there is also a minus tide for 12:00 which may have contributed as well.

Somewhat surprising? The swell forecast shows just a little over 3.5 ft and from the west.
Guessing the storms have brought in a lot of sand to the entrance?? I do see dredging equipment there often. |
