Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Tomales Bay 6/9/11
« on: June 08, 2011, 04:57:25 PM »
Heading out to Tomales Bay to do a little paddling and fishing tomorrow with the wife.  Anyone last second interested in coming out is welcome.  And if anyone has been there recently has any tips or reports let me know!  Figure I'll be aiming for halibut and leopards... I'll be out there bout 9 maybe 10am.

I'm with you guys, been too long since I hit the port! But scratch the early launch, think I'll go with when ever my butt rolls out of bed! So save me a few keepers!

Oh BTW, for small blue gills for bait Mather Lake off of Rancho Cordova ain't bad.  Friend of mine out that way told be bout it and I was watching 14yo putting good bait size blue gills in bluckets using just power bait and a small hook and string to catch em. Was tempted to buy them off him for bait!

What about shark fishing, something other than leopards? Is it worth doing a trip for just shark to? Is it wrong time in season or do I need to go more south?  Only charter I did was the leopards and had a blast but would like to try something different if we did shark again.  Two of us alone got 15 leopards released with 4 keepers, one hit 5ft mark.  That was fun, definitely learned a lot for fishing leopard if I try by yak in the future!

I'm getting married June 25th and got some guys wanting to throw a bachelor party.  I'm not into the wild night, been there done that... I'm stuck doing most of the planning for my own part and first weekend of June(sat&sun) want to charter a boat to take myself and the guys out.  I'm the only one of the guys that regularly fishes, hence why I'd like to find a charter.

I need advice on anyone who knows good charter companies near or in SF as I'm coming from sacramento. I'm willing to drive a little further as well potentially if it's worth it. And a larger boat to hold 5-10 that can potential handle more than the bay as I'd like to fish something of size.

What's good fishing right now as I'd like to show the guys a good time. Maybe shark or something that'll give a good fight. I'm more familiar with fresh water.

And any other advice you might offer...

And I'm making sure to get patches for all the guys so they don't get sea sick! :)

Thinking of heading to port of sac sunday pending weather. Who's interested? I'm open other ideas but it's close and so far fishing hasn't been bad there...

Hey Steve, just wanted to say your not alone. I got my kayak in Jan this year and joined NCKA just a week ago.  So if your heading out I'm interested to join and learn. So far I've been getting my school of hard knock at the port of sac fishing stripers.

And please anyone know of classes or hook ups that would be good for a beginner please message me as well! Thanks!

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Re: 03-17 Sac Port

The odd thing is that whatever hit it, seem to leave it for dead. It was on the surface for awhile splashing around.  I'd think anything big enough to swallow it would have jumped on the chance after it was injured.  Took us some time to get to it and from there it was easy to net up.  I don't know what it was that hit it but I've never seen a shad left wounded like that on the surface before.
