Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Avila or Cambria 10/6
« on: September 25, 2006, 02:22:19 PM »
I will be staying in Avila and will either fish rockfish and hali's out of Avila bay or head north to Cambria to fish rockfish, depending on wind and swells. I will just be getting back from a long range trip and will hopefully have some sashimi for lunch. I will be launching at 6:30 and will be on VHF 69.

Thinking about Stillwater on Sunday. Launching at 6:30 AM and heading north before the wind gets too bad. Weather report: NW WINDS 15 TO 25 KT :smt013. WIND WAVES 3 TO 5 FT. MIXED SWELL NW 3 -5 FT AND S 2 TO 3 FT. PATCHY FOG. The cove should provide some protection when the wind picks up. Anyone interested?

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Serene Lakes 9/3/06
« on: September 05, 2006, 12:25:26 PM »
My ocean fishing adventures have put a serious dent in my WAF so I spent the weekend with my wife and another couple in Soda Springs which is about 20 miles west of Truckee just off of highway 80. Serene Lakes are small natural lakes about the size of Lafayette reservior located only 2-3 miles from highway 80 in Soda Springs. There is a boat launch area (free) at the north west end of the lake with the Serene Lakes Lodge and beach area at the south east end of the lake. I started fishing at 7 AM using Mooch's trout slayer technique (jointed size 7 Rapala in the rainbow trout pattern and size 5 deep diving shad rap in the silver shad pattern). I had paddled for more than 30 ft when the jointed rapala was hit by a 14 inch stocked rainbow trout. Within 1 hour I had caught 6 trout from 10-14 inches. I was back at the cabin before my wife had finished her second cup of coffee. If you are in the Tahoe area, Serene Lakes are a good place to take kids, wives, or newbies to get introduced to kayak fishing. The lodge also has a nice beach you can go swimming and a nice selection of draft beer. Check it out!

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Monterey 9/1/06
« on: August 29, 2006, 07:34:12 AM »
Mike and I will be fishing Monterey 9/1/06. Either launching from MBK, Otter Cove or Stillwater Cove around 6:30 AM. Suggestions for launch sites welcome, however we would like to pick up some sand dabs along with rock fish if possible. This is Mike's last chance for a legal Ling before heading off to college. Feel free to hookup with us, we will be on channel 69. The weather forecast is: SW WINDS 5 TO 15 KT. WIND WAVES 1 TO 3 FT. MIXED SWELL NW SWELL 5 TO 7 FT AND S SWELL 1 TO 2 FT. PATCHY FOG.  :smt001

All of those Elk pics made me want some rockfish action. Anyone interested in Monterey or Stillwater on 8/19? I have never fished Stillwater but the reports sound good.  :smt002

General Fishing Tips / Where to Buy Game Clips
« on: July 17, 2006, 09:24:09 AM »
I noticed a lot of people using game clips at the HMB tournament yesterday. Looks a lot easier than a stringer. Where do you buy them and how much do they cost? I live in the east bay.

Thanks! Scott  :smt006
