Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Clear Lake frog bite
« on: July 20, 2006, 08:42:00 AM »
Hit Rodman Slough about 5 in the afternoon. The water is dropping so that many of the productive spots for pitching BrushHogs are now too shallow, only 3,4 feet. Yet, I tried, and caught zero. So good thing I had my frog rod. Missed a couple of blowups early on but it got noticebly better at sundown. Still, many fish missed the hooks. One fish hit after I had pulled the frog out of the target zone and was just floating out in the open near my boat. I was busy reaching for my spits and couldn't set the hook. It's what keeps me coming back.
I've been looking/waiting for the midday frog bite. Years past it's been epic. Not so this year, even with the hot weather. But that's just me.
I've read reports that the south end near Redbud has been productive. I have a hard time getting myself over there, don't like the drive.
Fish-on!
