Change of plans. Ill be launching out of Santa Cruz harbour Tues, dawnish. Bayside and Chartle's numbers out of Santa Cruz were better today. Bite is in about 250 ft of water, about a 5 - 6 mile paddle from the harbour, definetly doable, but still a long ass paddle.

see you there, Adam

Ill be camping at Sunset and launching at Moss Tues & Wed at dawn. Reports indicate the salmon are around the Soquel Hole/ Three Trees, thats a long ass paddle from Moss but Ive got to get out there. Planning on trolling the canyon edges towards Soquel Hole.

Company welcome, Adam

Great report & pics, wish I went.

Opted to troll many miles in cold, wet, foggy Morro Bay conditions for salmon. Good temps, no bait but the fish are there. Sometimes I wish I had a motor.

Very funny post. I once had a male sea lion charge right at me as I was just gaffing a yellowtail. I lifted the fish just before this massive animal glided only a few inches under the yak. I nearly soiled myself.

Heres how you fix those holes - get a sodering iron and some extra kayak fiberglass material. Call the company who made your kayak, they should be able to send you some scrapes. Then melt the materail in small chunks at a time. Melt 3 plus times to build up the missing fiberglass. Its pretty easy.

Good luck, Adam

thanks for the edit Kevin

ChukE - I caught near the Goleta Kelp just south of UCSB in November last year on a 2.5 green Kroc. I thought at first that I snagged the bottom. I lifted hard - shit it feels like the bottom. I lifted harder - damn i just bought that Kroc. I let out some slack, then pulled up real hard trying to free the hook, then felt two GIANT head shakes. Yeah! I think he weighed in at 36 pounds.

peace out, Adam

Congragulations on that FAT FLATTIE!

you were wise to get that beast into your hatch right away. When they go bezerk with all their power, they can do DAMAGE.

Last fall, I caught the same size butt, got him on the game pin, took a huge sigh of relief and then...

while i was holding the game pin, the fish went absolutely whacko and actually unhooked the steal latch. he nearly slipped back into the water but i got lucky and subdued him with my knife

enjoy your tacos, Adam

isnt anybody up there targeting the salmon off Pescadero? the fleet is getting limits everyday... and driving me nuts. ive considered driving up there & launching around pigeon pt. lokks like it would be a bit of a paddle but on the right day with minimal winds, im sure a kayaker could get limits.
