Just wanted to say thank you to Michael for putting on a great event (and everyone else involved) and Jack for passing out the live bait at the crack of dawn.

This was my first NCKA event/meetup but it won't be my last.  Caught my first Halibut and a handful of rockfish.

Everyone I spoke with on the water was great, definitely an awesome community.

-Side note, I can't offer any advice on Ocean/Bay fishing but anyone that wants to get into bass fishing or duck hunting feel free PM me, I'd be happy to share my limited knowledge or show you a few spots.

Cheers!

Welcome, do you fish out of SF (I saw it on your location)?  I've been thinking about chasing striper near Chrissy Field.

Welcome

Made it out to Sherman Lake this past Saturday.

Hit the morning high tide and like clockwork landed four keepers as soon as the water started moving out (the biggest at 25 inches) within three hours.  They didn't go after my rat-l-trap, A-rig, or spook but did a number on our butterflied shad.  Caught 7 total, 3 were undersized.

Not a bad trip for my first time soakin bait.

I ended being short on time so I went to lake chabot and got after some large mouth instead.  I'm shooting to get out for striper on this saturday though.  Typically I accidentally catch them when going for black bass, this will be one of my first dedicated striper trips.

Hitting the water to go plugging for stripers at Sherman Lake at the crack of dawn Saturday morning.

Anyone else going to be in the area?  I'll have a couple extra cold ones in the cooler.

Cheers

Welcome, I'd second the lake Chabot recommendation in the East Bay.  Easy spot to get on a couple of fish in a controlled environment.

The Russian River near Gurnville is one of my favorite fishing spots for smallmouth bass.  Awesome area scenery wise and it's pretty easy to hook into 10-20 fish in a few hours this time of year.

White Slough can be a great, I have a real tough time on the low tide there though especially the portion you are referencing.  Wacky jig head senkos have been my go to as of late.

Hey new member in the Oakland Area.  I typically fish for Bass on the Delta or at Lake Chabot but am looking forward to getting after some Striper in the Bay this year (advice on safe areas to launch would be greatly appreciated).

Cheers,

-Nick
