Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Re: Hobie Outback rudder control lines
« on: June 25, 2018, 04:30:28 PM »
Thanks Threemoney3. That's what I have. The shock cord is still attached to the line, but the other end is unattached. Shouldn't it be anchored to a fixed point on the kayak?

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Hobie Outback rudder control lines
« on: June 25, 2018, 03:20:10 PM »
The bungie cord that keeps my rudder T handle retracted came unattached. Not only can I not reach that far back where it should be, I can't even see it. There's a knot at the end of the bungie cord that hooks into something, according to Hobie's website, but it doesn't show exactly what it is or where it's located. Has anybody else come across this problem? Thanks.

CA Regulations / Re: Mountain Lion Safety

I read somewhere that if a mountain lion shows no fear and stalks you, you should make a loud noise and throw something at them. This actually worked for me one time while I was deer hunting in California.

Congratulations Joe! You caught some nice fish with an "angel" for a guide. You were in good hands.

kayak fishing California for 40yrs and now you decide to join NCKA?.......why?
I was thinking the same thing Jack.

-------------------------------------

I think it's great that there is shark research.  I just don't agree with the way they attract sharks with chum and hunks of fish from small boats.  They now associate small boats and stringers with an easy meal.  And now we are all in more danger because of it.

I totally agree. I'm glad somebody said it.

The only thing more dangerous than a GWS is the domesticated woman.

I wonder if many people kayak fish Flaming Gorge?

15-4 is still a pretty good post season record.   :smt002

With the supposedly rising ocean levels, I would think it would be encouraged. :smt001

I don't know if this has already been reported but:
Starting in 2017, anglers will be allowed to retain canary rockfish for the first time in more than a decade.

I'm glad you like my "turtle blind"  :smt005

It helps to have a field full of Black Angus cows. As I get in range, the geese look at it like "WTF???"

Too late! BOOM, BOOM, BOOM! :smt044

OK, don't laugh but I actually went through this a few years ago. I cut out a giant turtle out of 1/8" plywood that measured approx. 6'X4'. I painted it up and I rigged it up to carry in front of me and sneaked up on a bunch of Aleutian geese out in a pasture. Oh yeah, it worked!

I thought I had some photos on my computer but I can't locate them for some reason.

General Talk / Re: FUNNY STUFF......

A woman & her husband were in a busy shopping center just before Christmas. She suddenly noticed that her husband was missing and as they had a lot to do, so she called him on her cell phone.

The wife said, " Where are you, you know we have lots to do."

He said, "You remember the jewelers we went into about 10 years ago, and you fell in love with that diamond necklace? I could not afford it at the time and I said that one day I would get it for you?"

Little tears started to flow down her cheek and she got all choked up. "Yes, I do remember that shop." she replied.

"Well I am in the gun shop next door to that."

General Talk / Re: Home Defense - what do you use?
« on: November 24, 2016, 08:15:17 PM »
I have a home security alarm system and guns. I have guns in the house for the same reason I have fire insurance. I hope I never use it but if I need it I'll be glad I had it. With proper training, a gun in the house is no more dangerous than a hammer.
