Hey Ruben,

Please remove the website url and phone number.

stealthkayaksUSA.com does not exist and that ain't your phone number.

I'm a bit frustrated trying to find someone who sells stealth kayaks in the USA.  Whatever sales system they have in the USA, SUCKS!

Safety First / Re: The danger of Waders

Conditions are much more mild down South.

My gortex wader's has a zipper for relief.  And when the surf is up, before trying to land I take them off.

Since you are limited with space.  Why not store it on the backyard grass?  You will need a kayak cover for protection.

eBay.  Buy a pair of J racks for < $30.  Bolt them on some planks or scrap metal.  Easy to carry.  Easy to move.  Light weight.

The copper piece.   As nice as it is, must have cost a pretty penny.

The learning curve from straight to bent shaft was about 5 minutes.

General Talk / Re: Do you take your cell phone on the water?
« on: December 07, 2015, 04:39:28 PM »
Never again will I use a dry bag to hold the cell phone.

Bag had pin holes.  Enough water came inside the kayak and the bag was standing on a puddle.
The the end the cell phone got soaked.

Today, keys, wallet, camera and phone go in a Pelican box.

Craftsmen's Corner / Re: Tips to load kayak on roof J-Racks

I have a Nissan Titan.

At first I did the pool noodles over the yakima bars.  I forgot why I stopped.   Maybe it was a pain to deal with.
Second.  I went to no pool noodles and ended up scratching the plastic coating on the yakima bars.  Over time they peels off and had to get the bars replaced.  $$$
Not a good idea.  Won't do that again.
Third.  Tried the Harbor Freight bed extender.  FAIL.  My kayak is 16 ft.  There are a list of reasons why this did not work for me.
Fourth.  Step ladder and J-bars.  This works the best for me.  I can carry my kayak from the beach to the truck on my shoulder.  I then step up on the step ladder and place the kayak on the J craddle.  The step ladder enables me to be horizontal to the J craddle.  No lifting kayak over head.

But wait!  You said Hobie outback.  Nothing works for that.  You're screwed.   You would have to pay me to help you put it on your Explorer.

Stealth / Re: Rodholders issue

I'm putting two rail blaza mounts like the one paddleguy did. Check it out onyoutube. He has some good videos about rigging.

I have seen the video.  It looks good.  But are those 2lb trolling holders?
What is so special about rail blaza compared to Scotty?

Wrong place and angle for salmon trolling anyway. I mounted a rod holder on the hatch in front of me. It's a RAM holder with ball on a YakAttak track. Those rear holders work perfectly for trolling larger live baits with little or no weight. And I have had good luck with American market Shimano rods fit wise.

Ruben

EDIT* I had to remove the butt cap cover on one rod.

A buddy of mine installed ball ram mounts on his kayak.  I'm glad he did.  It was a complete failure.  I scratched that off my list.  Ram mounts are good for GPS, phone, radio......Not for trolling 2 lb lead weights.

I still want to know if I can install a scotty rod holder mount in front of, not on, the hatch.

What was the solution?

Why not put a Scotty thing-a-ma-jig in front of the hatch?  And use Scotty extenders so you can reach.

Too weak for trolling big cannonball salmon weights.

Bushy

I don't understand.  Scotty mount + extenders + scotty rod does handle the weight. (On my plastic kayak)
I don't understand what you are saying.  Is the glass too weak?  I'm not sure......

For Sale / Re: Whats a fair price for a used Trident 13?

Hull is warped.  At least he didn't lie about it.

The seller claims that it tracks fine.  I smell B.S.

I would not touch it.

Stealth / Epoxy for transucer?
« on: October 25, 2015, 03:42:51 PM »
Brent says in this video he uses EPOXY.  Forward to the 3:00 minute mark.

https://youtu.be/9X4CfZcrZls?t=181

The epoxy I have used in the past did not flex enough.  Plastic kayaks flex.  Any bump and the transducer pops off the hull.
Is there something different about glass?  I have a have a hard time believing this is the best idea.  Heated Marine Goop worked great for me.

Owners of Stealth glass kayaks, what glue did you use?

Thanks
