General Fishing Tips / Re: Descender Weight

"On a separate rod or make do when needed?"
You can use a dedicated rod/handline or use the same fishing rod if you add a swivel or quick disconnect clip to the end of the (1 ft short)  line that snell to the hook.
Got it!  @nooblife...I've never chased RCG snd the recent FOMO has caused a new fishery to open up in my freezer... :smt006 :smt007

I'm trying to imagine how this works.  I certainly want the simplest method.

Hook the fish in lower lip and lower it down with enough weight (1 - 5 lbs) depend on how big the fish is.  Yank/lift the rod up to release it at desired depth or at bottom.
[/quote]Thank you.  On a separate rod or make do when needed? :smt006

I just snell a thin wire barbless hook on backwards on the line above a weight.

Go Moo Go!  Nobody's takin' a sawzall to it and I hope the bad guys don't figure some of these things out.  Loved the vid.  I kinda like the hooks on the top but you're saying my discontinued version holds a wider yak?  Either way, see ya on da wattah'! :smt006

Making a mark!  Well deserved I’m sure.  I look forward to more good news! :smt006

They’re pulling this off on the East coast as well with da commercial lobstah’ fisherman as well.

On a side note, Target and Safeway just got noticed for overcharging consumers on staple stuff.  All consumer pricing for our home economies will steadily rise.

Growing stuff or harvesting proteins for our own personal use by our own efforts will eventually be on the chopping block but hopefully not in my lifetime.  Our kids will figure it out but it might get ugly.  Progress is regress in my opinion.

Hope to meetcha on da wattah some day da gophah’ brah! :smt006

I was a little nervous at my DMV license renewal though with the "put your hand over one eye" moment.

The way people drive around here, I wouldn't worry about the DMV at all, haha.
You mean they can’t see or find their turn signal lever and must have blurry speedometer vision?   :smt006

I cracked my 2.0 readers in my pfd yesterday.  When I gotta read a chart or some focused up close thang I pull em out and lay over my shades.  So far I'm at readers level.  I was a little nervous at my DMV license renewal though with the "put your hand over one eye" moment.

Hope I don’’t have to do this too often.  Super paranoid bout crunching sounds.  I think poly is mega durable.   I’m pretty rough on my stuff and sometimes I wish I was more careful.  Any hoo…I tore all my keel eazy off da stealth and hope I don’t have to learn glass repair first hand but I have all the stuff.  You guys are reminding me to take it easy on the off loading and shore landings so I can enjoy my yaks for many years… :smt006

I'm reminded in this pic, I got out knee deep in the mud ish and put down a towel to anchor the landing...

Thanks Al!  I love it, especially the weight.  My hesitation is mandatorily adding up to 32oz of lead to my platform for an unverified life expectancy of said released species.   :smt006

I picked up one of these descenders from Amazon. Makes it easy to release them at the right depths. Just set the depth you want them to be released at and then drop it down.

Dang that’s nice.  I have one of those grippers.  Mod life?  I wonder if there are any government funds to subsidize that purchase. :smt005 :smt006

I bought this reel for hand fishing, us it qualified?
Interesting handline.  I don’t see any battery compartment for it.  Must be legit… :smt006
