Oh Yeah, That Is Quite A Trek. If You Get It To Your Buddy, I Am Sure Once I See It I Will Buy It And I Can Give Him The Money Or We Can Figure Something Else Out.

Thanks Guys. I didn't realize there was a difference between high angle and low angle. I did get two Bending Branches basic aluminum shaft paddles thrown in with my purchase. It was great that I got those, but after using the one you lent me Rob, I am definitely spoiled and could immediately tell the difference!
I could have gotten a great deal on the Bending Branches Angler Pro, but just could not bring myself to spend that kind of money out the gate, even with a generous discounted offer.

Thanks for the offer Allen, Just confirming it is a 240cm? One of the paddles I was given was a 230 (Dan of Headwaters was out of 240s) and I know for a fact now that anything less than a 240 won't cut it on the Big Tuna!!

Jackson Kayak / Jackson Big Tuna
« on: July 02, 2013, 06:44:20 PM »
Got my first kayak last week from Headwaters in Lodi. Went with the Jackson Big Tuna! I only got to take it out the afternoon that I bought it with my wife. This thing is AWESOME!!! So much space, and it handles surprisingly well given its size. I can't wait to try it with the single seating option, hopefully next week if it cools down.

The whole experience with buying my first kayak was so much easier than I thought it was going to be thanks to Dan of Headwaters. He really took the time to show me all of my options, (we spent a good hour weighing everything out, and he did an amazing job patiently answering all of my prying questions) he did not try to sell me on anything that I didn't need. Dan and his team hooked me up with a couple paddles and a car rack system. They even took the time to set up my car and loaded my kayak for me, showing me everything I need to do when I am on my own. Thanks so much Dan, you and your crew are solid!

So now that I have my very own yak, let's go catch something! I am open to go with anyone anytime I am not working! I definitely need some experience before hitting big water, any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

General Talk / My 15th Day Celebration as a NCKA Member
« on: June 26, 2013, 10:57:12 PM »
So..... I have been a part of this site for just 15 days and here is what has happened:

Within the first few days, my introductory post was flooded with positive feedback and advice along with a warm welcome. I received many offers to join in with the MADNESS!!!

I was lucky enough to have RacinRob take me out to a lake that I didn't know existed that is just 20 minutes from my house. I was fortunate enough to board his Wilderness Systems 160 for an afternoon of chasing down some bass. With my limited experience fishing from a kayak, it was everything that I was looking for, seriously amazing!! Unfortunately for me, all I could catch were some aggressive blue gill while dropping Senkos and Cranks, it was kinda weird, but I was happy that I hooked something.... Rob showed his true skills by landing some good sized largemouth, one of them hitting the 20" mark!! Overall it was a great introduction to the sport, Thanks Rob!

And here I am today, 15 days later: all I can think about is getting a yak and getting on the water. I find myself interrupting the awesome stories my wife is telling me to look up mods for the kayak that I am going to get. My phone is maxed out with tabs opened up on tips, tricks and specs. My eyes are opened to this amazing world, and I know that I haven't even scratched the surface. I am itching to pull the trigger very soon!! I will probably buy the kayak new, but any advice or info on where to get car racks for a 4 door sedan really cheap and a quality paddle would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks again for such an awesome experience already

-Billy
