I was thinking about giving it a try to test it out. Only thing I have caught outa there are shad, striper, and sucker fish. Time to see if I can catch a steelie. If so whats the best access for this higher water? I have always been addicted to rossmoor.

I flaked last year for the first time in a 7 years on the place that started fishing for me. Looks like this year I'm headed back. I got an email from my b-law

"Trinity river jan.28-30."

His pops has a house at Junction City. After chilling with him for the weekend im thinking of heading up to Weitchpec area to dive bomb some spots with an inflatable. I use a back packable INNOVA to get around. Ill probably stay at Bluff Creek Resort and or one of the camp grounds around Bluff Creek and camp it. I use to have a 30' trailer stored up there with heater.... that's sitting up at 'R' Ranch now :(
If the water is too high and fast it will be all shore fishing.

Outback was in great shape. Had wiring for the rudder motor.

General Talk / Where to buy live minnows around Sac Port?
« on: December 24, 2010, 11:33:40 PM »
Anyone know of a shop around Sac Port that sells live bait?

Ive got an itch to learn how to catch crappie. I read using live minnows is a good way to figure out where they hang out for new people.

Thanks!

Patrick and I may be going this coming Saturday. Not sure of which launch yet (49 or glory hole). 49 launch you may need wheels. If anything thing like last Saturday; slow troll 1/6 oz hardware with no weight was working for 15-16" trout... some of which had to be hold overs due to crazy fight. I look to 1) toss small jigs in coves under cover using slider bobber 2) drag deep diver or weighted rapalas in cover to entice a brown trout. It usually 730 am launch. Ill have my radio on 69.

Maybe this round we will find something over the 16" range :)

Looking at the hwy 49 launch; to work way into that canyon to the north. I'm going to drag around something at 30-40' looking for a brown trout! Probably launch 6:30-7am.

Anybody ever got a brown in this lake?

General Talk / Thanks giving thievery
« on: November 26, 2010, 10:09:13 PM »
Just a heads up from what I have learned over the last few days. With holidays on us car break in's are on the rise.

My wife left a purse on the front seat over night the day before thanks giving. Well I took the trash out thanks giving day to find a window busted out. A purse gone. We went to reporting her credit/debt cards missing. Well one card we could not get through to for anything. But the other we were able to cancel.

Talking to both card companies. This is what we learned. The thieves take the cards and fill gas cans at stations until they max out. They did this to the card we could not cancel. The Credit company card dude said to also never use the dept feature at gas stations... and to always use the credit option due to card readers.

So we learned. Never leave a bag viewable in your vehicle (duh!). Dont use debt option when filling up for gas.

Also the glass replacer dude said 3/4 of his work today was from car break ins. That is very bad this time of year.

We did end up with a nice hefty sledge hammer out of the deal though. It was just sitting by the front seat covered with glass

Add a little insult to injury... I went for a walk around the creek area this morning. And a damn loose pitbull came charging across the creak to growl at me. I charge at it yelling back off! It didn't move. Just got meaner. So I took a couple steps away and it started after me. I spin and yell more... it barked more but stopped. I turned to leave again and it came at me again. So I spin and charge it... it just got meaner. So I grab a branch to swing around like an idiot and it stayed put just barking. Turns out it lived at the house I was walking by. It had gotten out and was protecting its home. The police were called by someone cuz they came and got it. I tell you... mucho respect for pits after today. That dog was bad-ass scary.

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Fort Ross 10-22, 23 ?
« on: October 20, 2010, 08:25:43 PM »
Anyone going to Fort Ross? I have to try it... haven't got my new wheels delivered yet; so I'm going to use my broke ones. Once you get to the beach can you drag a kayak on it easy? Is it really sandy or is it rocky like Stillwater North?
