I have never caught anything on that end of the lake. Only on the dam end once the water starts getting deeper.

Pay It Forward / Re: GET YOURSELF CHECKED!!!
« on: August 25, 2020, 09:49:01 PM »
Back on July 23rd I discovered a lump on my upper left thigh accompanied with an dull ache after standing and working all day, the pain exactly like that of a hernia I had repaired on that same side back in 2012.  Thought maybe a femoral hernia this time from google search.  Saw my doc on the 28th.  She said it was not and sent me in for a CT scan.  The scan showed 3 lumps in that area, the largest measures 4.2 x 3.9 x 10 cm (162 cc or 10 cubic inches?).  So my doc sent me to a surgeon for a biopsy.  According to the pathology report, I have non-Hodgkin B-cell lymphoma with a differential that includes marginal zone lymphoma and follicular lymphoma.  I was sent to an oncologist last Thursday.  He ordered blood tests, a PET CT scan and a bone marrow biopsy to determine staging and aggressiveness.  Waiting now for a call to schedule those.  I meet again with my oncologist in 3 weeks to discuss treatment.
I am not looking forward to these tests and really not looking forward to treatment.

Wishing you the best of outcomes Jerry.

General Talk / Re: Radio Courtesy (CH 69)

Whether they were NCKA or not that is not NCKA's personal channel. 68, 69 and 71 are really the only channels anyone is supposed to be on for this type of communication. It sucks sometimes people are very "chatty", but really nothing that can be done about it. I would suggest that if you are annoyed at all the chatter then have your group move to one of the other two. One more thing, 69 is not an emergency channel. 16 is the emergency channel. If it gets that bad for needed help, call the coast guard on 16. Otherwise just hail for help on one of the public channels, 68, 69, 71, and make sure all your friends are on the same channel that day.

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Re: Donner Lake

Laser minnows, deep off rocky points, early in the morning

^^^^^^^^^^This and trap some minnows to tip the jig. Just fish when you mark them. If you troll, bounce the bottom, but be careful. Yes China is a good area and you need to watch the ledge with your down rigger.

Also, frozen Herring Carolina rigged and let them chew it. Thread the Herring and slowly drag it around where you mark fish.

This has been replayed here a lot over the years. You can have barbed hooks on board. You can rockfish with barbs as long as you do not have salmon on board. Once you have a Salmon on board you must switch to barbless for rockfish. When you fish for salmon if you have rockfish on board you must stay within the depth restrictions for Rockfish. Or just go barbless all together and don't worry about anything but depth restrictions. You may catch a Salmon on rockfish gear with barbs and it would suck to have to let it go.

General Talk / Re: commercial fishing
« on: July 27, 2020, 08:16:05 PM »
InSearchOfFish (Kevin) is licensed commercially. Reach out to him.

You can't recreational fish out of your commercially registered vessel. So if you want to fish with friends for instance for a non target species you need a second kayak. Salmon is an entirely different deal and you must acquire an existing Salmon permit from someone getting out of the game I believe. Lot's of rules and regs and you will probably not make any money.

Not as OG as most of you on this thread, but I've  seen my share of stuff around here. Still one of the top posters I guess, but that means I never have anything to do and hang out on the computer a lot I guess.

Hey Tote, whats up? Long time no see.
