Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / ARW- 3/31 report
« on: March 31, 2021, 09:56:44 PM »
Hey there-

Got a late start today with my son, met a few already leaving Ncka’ers (James, Rastafaria, ddtam) - and hit the water around 11:45-

Conditions were stellar the whole afternoon, lake like until 4:30 pm, which can be rare at ARW, this time of year.

We dragged frozen anchovies around and caught a good many shakers - but finally landed a nice fatty - 32”.

All of our action was deep- 22’ plus.

Cheers-

Geoff

ARW - tomorrow- Sunday 8/5

Will be on the water around 8ish.

The tides are looking really good for halibut tomorrow, with a foot difference between changeover. Plus the wind will be down. You can’t beat days like this -

Company welcome - will be on the water with my 6yr old.

Two words Ernest - “Bad Ass” - you never fail to impress. Quality work right there brother! Can’t wait to see it on the water.

On the water by 8:30 off around 2:30-

Beautiful weather- light breeze, good current - sometimes too fast.

Landed maybe ten shorts, a big leopard and a few seven gill pups. A few strong takedowns, but no stick. No keepers.

Brought my daughter out for her first time with her brother and she had a blast.

Saw Lucky13 and met a few others for the first time-

All in all a great time on the water, buying time till the salmon bite heats up.

Hit the water at 8am with my son.

Saw some friendly familiar faces -

Conditions were awesome- hot, flat, no wind, clear water.

Fished popsicles- and probably caught 20 shorts between the two of us.

As soon as the tide turned, we landed a 27”.

The fan finally turned on  and we were off the water by 3.

Saw Keith (lost anchovy) back at the launch- and snapped a pic of our Hali’s together-

Conditions look fantastic for tomorrow- little or no wind from the morning well past noon.

Will be launching around 8am.

Fishing with my son- aiming for a big Hali- but local rumor is that larger ghosts are in and were landed today.

Company welcome, see you on the water!

Hit the water at 8am with my best fishing partner. Beautiful weather, calm ocean, and clear water with lots of pacific jellyfish, tentacles and all. Saw many ncka folks- Bob, Psherman, Martin to name a few-

Bought two trays of herring instead of anchovies by mistake.

Could hear everyone on the radio catching shakers left and right while we were getting no love with the Big herring.

Once the tide slacked and began to flip - the mommas began to feed.

Got a big take down and lifted what felt like heavy dead weight. Turned out to be a 36” Hali barely lipped hooked with stinger treble. As soon as I saw the lip, grabbed the gaf and chopped at it. Bam in the boat and all wet.

About an hour later, was cruising along and another good hit, this time she swallowed it. Chopped it with the gaf and 29” in the boat.

Caught a couple shorts there after and missed another big hit. But all in all another sweet day in the water. Plus my son had a blast. His face and expression when he first saw the big halibut was priceless. Cheers-

On the water around 10-

Off by 5-

Had a blast sailing around in between all the party boats and fisherman. The place was a madhouse!

Saw a few ncka members, but only recognized Ariel or actually couldn’t miss him on the water!

The weather was great and the wind picked up like clockwork around 1pm and cut off and on throughout the rest of the afternoon.

I ended up catching and releasing 8 shorts ranging from 6” to 20”. All on popsicles.

All in all not a bad session for my first time back on the water since last summer.
