Hi, my name is Ed and I live in Arroyo Grande, so I anticipate my adventures will mostly be on the Central Coast. I've been assembling equipment and trying to learn as much as I can. Thanks this site's members for their contributions to that goal!

I've done it all wrong and bought a Jackson Kraken 15 without trying it or any other kayak. Just the way I seem to do things. I've been eyeing it for a while and found a deal I couldn't pass up. I've bought all the suggested safety equipment and added some of my own--a pair of web fingered gloves in my pfd pocket just seemed like a good idea.

I moved back to CA a couple years ago after living in CO for over 30 yrs. My saltwater experience is limited to surf and pier fishing. Nice to be a member of your fine forum!

Welcome Ed.  There are a bunch of great guys in CCKF too.  Be careful on that part of the coast.  There have been a number of shark sightings and attacks.  Never fish alone, research and follow the safety recommendations posted on the sites.

How did you do it all wrong by buying a Kraken?

How bout that, another Kraken owner named Ed!

By "doing it all wrong" I was referring to buying a kayak without trying it first. Don't get me wrong...I'm thrilled with the Kraken at this point and can't wait to get it out on some (easy) water.

Oh, and I've certainly given consideration to large undersea predators, believe me.

Thanks for the welcomes!
