No Bueno Pete  :smt009

You think he saw you and wasn't interested?

Bet that suit was a tad bit Stinkier  :smt003

Woohoo! Account is working again!

One quick correction;  it happened on Monday, not Sunday. A guy in the NorCal Skindiver Club supposedly saw one on Sunday.

To answer your question, I'm 100% sure it scoped me out for a while because when I saw it, the Shark had  pretty much cruised past me. What really freaks me out is the thought that it probably passed within a few feet of me as I was descending or leveling out at the bottom and I didn't even notice it for a while.

The only comfort is knowing that it saw me and decided not to pursue. I guess it's true that the big ones know what people are and don't care about them.
I think they're probably around a lot more often than we think and they know the difference between people and pinnipeds.

Ben,

You should PM Matt aka damanij he just got some really nice Picasso 7mm dive suits in and has some great prices as well.

Actually Jim, that picture is from my second time wearing that suit, the first time was less fishy but I got my first limit of scallops.

Seems like the pros and cons are fairly well covered. To be extra clear though, when you miss a fish underwater with the polespear you often have enough time to reload it underwater and take a second or third shot depending on how well you've managed to bungle things.

Also I like to think using a polespear requires divers to really work at getting close to fish, something that only makes you more dangerous should you switch to a gun later.

Now you see why I take mostly blacks and blues...small kids at home!
Blues are my favorite, I almost never eat ling or cab. Lately I've been lucky enough to chow down on yellowtail and halibut, but my test was before the yellowtail, so that's clearly not the problem. But like I said, blues are my favorite and when I eat stuff from my supply I usually choose them. 26 ppm and counting.

Time for the WSB hail mary.  It's the only chance any of us but Sean have left!
It would be impressive

Thanks for all the word's of encouragement guys. Tote, never say never, if you believe you can learn to dive 90-100' and hunt big fish and you work at it, you absolutely can. I'm not going to say who, but I know of a serious competitor on DOTY who was born with a collapsed lung and severe asthma. I personally find that fact inspirational but I don't think he wants me making that information known.

Hint: His initials are Adam Suave.

Lol, in all honesty I've just been diving my ass off this year and have spent enough time in the water to take advantage of good luck. But hey there are still 3.5 months left and I'm not writing Sean off quite yet.

Please tell us more about the project you're going to use them for, always curious. I always find massive urchin below 40', pretty much anywhere, even within a 15 minute drive of San Francisco.
