hey all...

Planning to hit Rockaway beach tomorrow (630ish am) as conditions appear to be favorable.  Hoping wind doesn't get brutal mid-morning like it did last weekend. I'll be hanging around close to rocks to acquire my 1st keeper ling, cabby, hali, or just rockfish.  If anyone wants to join me then, give me a holler.  Will be in a hobie dune outback.  Hope to see you out there!

last Saturday was straight south wind, but the surf was much smaller. Tomorrow the surf will be bigger, but the south wind wont be as bad. Hope that help you to decide.

Yeah, I'm not yet familiar with Rockaway's demeanor so to speak as of yet.  Surf last Sat was rated at 2.5'.  Tomorrow is rated at 2'.  So, I'm confused on how you're saying it'll be bigger surf tomorrow.  I do understand about the wind as it was pretty hairy last weekend.

Is there another site I should check out to give me an overall assessment for tomorrows conditions?  I'm coming from Antioch and would like to make a pre-judgement call before making the trip rather than on the beach. Thanks in advance.

Magicseaweed is my goto. Says 2-4 decreasing to 2-3 after 9 am. The primary swell direction is straight onto the beach, so that could make for slightly larger than last week when the launch was in the lee created by the point. But, last week was almost like a bay launch, it was so calm. Looks fine, though.
