BANANA HAMMOCK WARNING !!!
That's pretty amazing though. I can't imagine being that close to a whale - what an experience. Sad that rescues like that are necessary, and even worse, how many entangled whales go unnoticed until its too late. Thanks for posting that. 1415
Fish Talk / Re: Trippy.... Great White eaten by giant squid?« on: June 06, 2014, 08:42:56 PM »Creepy. Most likely it was Godzilla not a squid. Squids are cold blooded. Temp spike to 78 degrees? Godzilla.+ 1 Giant Squid are cold-blooded (though they technically don't have blood at all) so their body temp is the same as that of the ocean water surrounding them. This makes for a cool theory and story but the culprit wasn't a squid given the story's parameters. Sperm whale, perhaps ? The high body temp and the ability to dive to those depths would certainly account for the readings from the sensor. 1417

General Talk / Re: Talk about unlucky...« on: June 01, 2014, 08:47:50 AM »
That's a major bummer !
I've had the same thing happen when using and older rod myself. I went to set the hook on a fish and it too broke just below the coupling. Missed the fish too - double whammy ! But the new one ? Wow, that's really strange. How did it break exactly ? 1424
General Talk / Re: Look what I found this morning« on: June 01, 2014, 08:41:40 AM »Where was it swimming and WTF is it?Make sure to put a little blanket or a towel in there. Getting it warm and dry will help it recover and get a energy back. Nice save though ! 1425
