That's an awesome event, maybe if you aren't an asshole more people would want to stick around long enough to get involved?

Seriously dude. If you don't agree that's fine. I didn't come here for trouble. Try educating rather than running people off. Let it go, and I will do the same.

Thanks for the advice. So you don't think it would be better to keep as a spare for a fishing buddy? Better to just make some back for the next one?

Lmfao at you. I'll keep an eye out for the striper with your name on it's side. I have no desire to "shoot a big striper" if I choose to shoot one to knock off the bucket list, well that's my right as much as it is yours to hook them. I personally have no desire to load up on striper. I can fish from my back door all day long and real them in. I'm over them. I'm there for the experience and hopefully being able to observe their behaviour underwater.

Yeah, remember me buddy, i'll be the one paddling around picking up crap out of your "backyard" river. Tell me again what you do that makes you so high and mighty? Most spearos care more about the environment than most people/anglers.

If you really want to make a stand how about you go try to help get rid of all the tweaker camps on your precious river. I'm sure they are all fishign with licenses and obeying size limits and C&R.

Seriously wow. I guess I found the spear board of line fisherman. I am not a troll, I posted something I thought others might enjoy. You don't like it, you can, Idk go away and not watch it?

Have fun C&R striper in your dumpster river, oh, and try making a stand somewhere it might actually better the sport, rather than people that actually care about preserving it and obeying laws.

Hilarious you automatically tag me as a striper anhilator. I attend CSBA meeting from time to time, care about laws and not wiping them out, never once said I even would shoot one in the original post. Maybe I like carp. If you notice the video was titled freediving, not spearfishing, the american. I'm not saying I wouldn't take one, but it's not like I was there to kill as many as  i could FFS

Oh god here we go. No laws were broken. Public waterway I launched outside of the parks district and paddled up.

How the heck did you get past paradise?

I'm not too familiar with the area but I believe I stopped right before paradise  why is there some type of blockade t there?

The hole came from the cleat tearing off from the weight of the anchor, taking the piece with it. I unscrewed the cleat and put it farther up the hull. Have the piece around here somewhere I think.

Those bonefish flies look very similar.
I'll post tomorrow what some we use look like. Too tired now. Just got home from the Travis Air Show. Bad day.

Damn. You made me google it, I could see the smoke from my house. Knew that wasn't part of the show.... Should have turned my radio on and listened to what was going on.

Ah yes, the rare freshwater abalone. Haha. No idea why it was there. A joke by another diver? A random drop off a party boat?

Thanks, the chunk missing isn't the rudder, it's by the anchor clete in the picture. Where is it $15 to replace? I see the upgrade kit for over $100, the twist and stow, is it worth it to pay to upgrade from old up down?

Part of me thinks I should just ghetto rig what I can and buy a new one, it served me well for so long, and it would be nice to have a spare, even if it's junky.

I emailed Hobie to see if they might be generous and still send me the repair kit due to defectiveness.

Thanks for the advice, looking for some on fixing vs. buying a new one. Probably just looking for someone to give me an excuse to upgrade LOL. :smt044

Had this Yak for almost 10 years. In need of some serious work!

First my paddle is broke. One end got stuck in the mud at low tide and I never found it again. Then the rudder is screwed. The line with the bungee isn't connected to the handle so if I try to turn left or right the rudder pops out. Tried re zip tying it but they keep slipping. Also has this big chunk missing, and I just realized a rod is popping out of my flipper. I also just found out from a thread here these models in the time period I bought had a problem with cracking? That would explain the magic water leak I can never find. Also the bungies and such are old rotted and need to be replaced. Oh yeah and lost a wheel so I have a mismatched harbor freight cotter pinned wheel too. I'm in rough shape haha.

Should I spend the money fixing this, Hobies parts are expensive. Or should I just try and get a new one, leave this one as is for company, kayakless fishing buddies? Besides the broken issues, it's also old, was stored flat on it's bottom in the sun, and is faded. Thanks.

:smt009Hello. I'm a diver and sort of kayak angler. Hooked into my first sturgeon on the yak last yeast. Lost it but fell in love, now the more I go out the more I want to. Caught one keeper on it so far and a few undersized. I live on the Sac Delta and can launch my yak out of my back door. Here's the first one from last year.
