Thanks for the tips.

I'll be at "Campground by the Lake".  I've nudged you in the past about info and finally am going to get to make it out.

Any suggestion for lures out of those spots?  I'm fine with Kokanee or Macks.

I'm thinking a flutter or diamond jig that I typically use for rockfish.  I don't have a reel counter though.

From campground by the lake I'd head to the shelves off of Nevada beach to the east or the Tahoe Keys to the west.  We use small jigs usually 1-4oz for macks, tipped with a live minnow.  Most rockfish jigs will do fine or even kastmasters. Having the live minnow seems to be much more important than the jig itself.

The AIS they are referring to for boat inspections are: Asian clams, Zebra and Quagga mussels, New Zealand Mudsnail, Eurasian watermilfoil and Curlyleaf pondweed. Tahoe has currently been affected by Asian clams, Eurasion watermilfoil, and curlyleaf pondweed and they want to prevent the further spread of those plus ensure the others will not be making an appearance. There is no inspection for Tahoe itself if launching from CA. They simply ask that you clean, drain and dry your kayak before launching. Fallen leaf lake is a pristine lake so they require a hot wash which is free and is provided at the fallen leaf boat launch or at the Meyers inspection station. If launching on the NV side you are required to have an AIS sticker.  Tahoe (keys mainly) does have bass, blue gill, crappie, and catfish which are invasive as stated above.

FriedKalamari if you fish outside of Nevada beach, which I'm guessing where you are camping at, you will hook in to some good fish just off of the shelf, just remember to bring sonar. Cave rock also has great fishing. If you want to fish warm water species the keys is the spot.

The 2018 demo is a 13, Rockfish color only used a few times.  I have multiple 15 Elites. They are a few model years old. 2 still new, in Sunrise and Sexy Shad colors.  4 used, sunrise, camo, lime green, and purple/blue/pink color ways.  The lime green has a landing gear installed.  I have optional rudder kits that I can work a deal on if you'd like. I will get a price list together when I get a chance. Shoot me a text at 530-314-3523 and I'll get prices and pics to you if you'd like.

Thanks

We finally got a chance to get it out yesterday and its a great flat water fishing vessel. Jackson Kayak Rep said they have tested it in the ocean and it does pretty good in swells up to about 3 feet.

FriedKalamari,

-We use Hostess crumb donuts in our traps
-Traps can fill up quickly, had over 100 in mine the other day after just a few minute soak
-Yes hook through the nose and they tend to stay alive for a long time

I'm running into some issues with getting a permit to serve food out there, doing my best to get the permit but it may not happen in time just wanted to give everyone a heads up.

Traildad, Feel free to ask for specifics but I'll do my best to provide some tips. For starters we usually jig for the macks with anything from a 1/2 ounce- 4ounce jig depending on variables like depth, wind, etc.  We always tip our jigs with live minnows( caught only in Tahoe, cannot use live bait not caught in Tahoe). We jig along shelves and potholes along the bottom. The Macks are deep this time of year.  If you are rigged with a downrigger you can use a set of flashers with a minnow in tow. Sonar is a must.
For the Kokanee this time of year head out from Edgewood or the Keys and run a set of flashers with a wedding ring or something similar tipped with shoepeg corn that has been soaked in something like procure.  The Kokanee will soon start staging off of Taylor creek and the bite will be real good. Right now we are finding them anywhere from 40-80ft down.
You are always welcome to call me at 530-314-3523 and I'll be able to answer any questions much quicker than I can on here.

LoletaEric, Yes the full parking can present some pros and cons for sure. Most people that are fishing will be there well before the parking fills up though. This last weekend was especially busy do to Yosemite being closed. We will be out there every other Sunday for the rest of the season if you'd like to join us on a slower weekend later in the year.

Hope to meet some of you out there!

Traildad, The hot bite right now is Kokanee on the south shore, but since we'll be going out from D.L Bliss the target will probably be Mackinaw.  Yes we will have at least one member of the fishing team available to try and put folks on fish.

Stoked to announce our first Demo day/Fish and chill day of the season.  Sunday August 5th we will be at D.L Bliss State Park (Lake Tahoe) from 8-Sunset. We will be bringing our entire demo fleet of Jackson Kayaks and Tahoe SUP.

To clarify some info here, there are no Smallmouth in Tahoe.  We do have a healthy population of Largemouth in the Tahoe Keys and the Tahoe keys marina. You can also find Black Crappie, Bullhead Catfish, Bluegill, and Goldfish in the Keys.
