Saw this on YT and thought I would share:

I'd like to bash some purple urchins, that sounds like fun. :smt044

I went to Caspar Beach onTuesday. There were some nice patches of bull kelp in the cove and some scattered outside. Good to see it!

Not a super bite, but some nice specimens were boated. There were five of us - lingcod, cabezon, vermilion, gopher, blue, black and canary rockfish were the takers. We were spread out a bit at times, so others may have come up.

Conditions were pretty good, cleaned up as the tide came in. I only kept two. One is in the picture of the tailgate cleaning station.

Not to threadjack, but where did you get that cutting board?  Im sure I could fabricate something similar from stock, but if you happened to have a source, that would be easier!     :smt006

I did not view the video, but it may be illegal.

There used to be a commercial red urchin business.  Those former red urchin harvesters are now harvesting purple urchins and getting paid for their efforts.

Scientists are documenting the effort.  The urchins are hauled to a land fill.
