General Talk / Re: Bass fishing, White kids, and the N word?

Sounds like me and my friends at 16. E40, mac dre, celly cel,  and a bunch of other stuff we loved but never could relate to, no matter what. I bet we looked soooo ridiculous blasting that stuff as white kids from Napa, haha.

How many hours do you get out of a single charge?

What's the top speed and how long can you go that fast?

General Talk / Re: Markley Cove Kayak Launch $$$&

As of yesterday, the 21st, Capell Cove,  Smittle Creek, and Oak Shores are still free of charge. I went to scope out the situation at Oak Shores as it's the best place to launch if you're trying to fish the big island and that's where the kokes  have been caught. I was kinda hoping it was set up with an iron ranger so that way you don't have to wait till  7:30 (If your lucky) for them to open up. $25 for Markely is absurd but it's the closest launch to the dam so it is what it is, I guess.

Just wheel under the gate. I gave it a go yesterday hoping that the weather forecast was wrong. It wasn’t. The wind came up as soon as the sun came up and blew me off the water. Weather report said it was 22mph wind when I left  :smt044

I also asked the park ranger when they were going to start charging. He didn’t know and didn’t have any estimate.

I'm too worried about my truck getting broken into on the road. Do you wheel from road all the way to the launch pad or just straight down the hill. I also don't feel like hauling my Outback loaded with gear all the way back up the hill after fishing all day, but that's because I'm outta shape. Got any plans to try again this week? I might be able to make it out.

Please, please wear sunblock. Not just fishing but all the time. My father passed from skin cancer this past March.

So fn cool. It's so bright! Did the biologists explain the coloration? I wonder if it's an albino coloration or something similar. Love your vids and pics Jim, its no wonder everyone on rhis board speaks about the legend of Big Jim.

I'm not sure about rollers but I bet if you go to an upholstery shop they'll let you take some scraps and they could even put a cover on the foam for protection.

Ricci, throw my $5 in the hat.

Heroes On the Water (HOW) / Re: HOW At Lake Hennessey March 16

Hey Rob, I'm not sure if I work tmw or not. If I'm off I'll be there. The water was pretty muddy on Wednesday according to my buddy also. Hopefully I'll get the day off and I'll be there in the AM.

I'm in at site 15

Interest for me is high. Not sure if I could make it though.  I'd probably not fish the tourney but use the day to learn how to halibut fish from the knowledge there. I was bummed I couldn't make your halibut tutorial day last year TLA, so I'll try and soak up some knowledge if I get the time to go.

Congrats Ariel!

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Re: Kokatat session semi dry jacket?

Base layer: wool.  You need something to wick moisture and sweat off your body so if the temperature drops quickly or you stopped to fish you don't start freezing. I made the mistake of wearing cotton base layers on a 40 degree day and if I didn't keep active the sweat would cool and I would start shivering.  Don't do that.  I'd go with merino wool thermals, and if it's reallllly cold a light fleece top and light wool bottoms. Its better to be a bit hot and sweaty than to risk hypothermia.

General Talk / Re: Alaska Tides OMG!
« on: January 24, 2019, 05:33:16 AM »
We have family friends that live in Juneau.  Chatham Strait seems to always be moving  like a mofo. That's a huge tide swing though and makes me wonder about those little fishing villages and the lil coves and harbors they dock up in.

I changed my mind to Steele canyon. More fishing options and open, uncrowded sites.
