Got some today on the tandem. Most of the schools were small and sporadic, but there were a couple schools that blacked out the ff for a good 15 seconds. Go gettem

We might go Sunday with fam and hoping we get them by the wharf/pier.

I'll be in SC on sunday with fam doing the train at noon.
Can I get these with sabiki from shore?
Of all the fishing i've done over the years This is not on the list.
I see yall chase macks every year and I am never in the right place at the right time.
I can bring yaks if needed, Henry would love tooling about in the harbor after the train.

light action spinning rod with sabiki?

Might try the wharf again on Sunday, although it could be pretty cold and windy from the forecast.  I've not tried for them from shore Jim, but I think they go wherever the anchovies are, so if they are near shore it might be doable.  Otherwise the wharf has had anchovies for several weeks, and it looked like another batch of pinheads were present at the end of the wharf when I went on Wed.  I only needed a sabiki and no bait to catch them, but if a few of them hit at once, your rod could go over the rail if the drag isn't set light enough.

Awesome.  Hope they move up north.

I fish for these when down in San Clemente off the pier with a glowstick at night.  My favorite fish!

I tried the SC Wharf tonight and it was pretty dead. Some anchovies around, but no macks.

Right on, I'll take a rod and low expectations, lol [emoji23]

After seeing three of my friends catching a total of 500 mackerel last weekend from a boat, I had to try it for myself. My good friend Thuy took me and my cousin out on his 15 foot aluminum boat out of SC. The bite was pretty consistent from 630-1000 am from right outside of the harbor to the pier. Per Thuy, mackerel were not stacked like last weekend and they were scattered. We were constantly on the move and got most of the fish by trolling. In total, three of us caught 268 jack mackerel and 6 pacific mackerel.
