General Talk / Fish vacuum sealer suggestions
« on: September 02, 2021, 04:51:47 PM »
Haven't seen a discussion on this, What is the best meat vacuum sealer, or which ones do you guys use. Been looking around and am not sure if it is worth it to go and buy an expensive one or just to get a cheaper one. What's your guys thoughts?

General Talk / Questions on ResQLink 400 Personal Locator Beacon

Don’t know if there is already a discussion about this, couldn’t find one.  But I have a question about the ReQlink 400 Personal locator beacon. Do any of you guys have this product and would you guys recommend it. I know a few people who’ve gotten this but it’s 315$ so just debating it. Is it a must have for the ocean? I have a radio, a pfd, and the normal safety equipment.

Thanks for the report, haven't ever fished Fort Ross and would have no idea where to go but would really like too. Have been trying to research, and am thinking I may try sometime this week.

Do you go for rock fish out there? New to the sport and don’t know many spots and want to try to get out. The swell and wind looks like good conditions to me but not 100% sure.

Introductions / Re: First day on the kayak/Tomales bay halibut
« on: August 19, 2021, 01:33:26 PM »
Welcome aboard.  I tried my luck in Tomales Bay last weekend for nothing.  I counted at least 14 boat/kayaks out there and didn't see a single net raise.  I can usually at least catch a shaker.  I was jigging and drifting live bait.  Tomales Bay is generally good for sting ray if you're just looking for action.  Throw a squid on a sliding sinker setup and hang on.

Thanks, good to know I'll definitely try that out. Someone told me when I was there that the Halibut should be following the bait and come inside the bay in the next week or two, so thats when I'll be trying next.

Introductions / First day on the kayak/Tomales bay halibut
« on: August 18, 2021, 09:25:07 PM »
Today was my first day on the kayak. My names Eli, i just got a Hobie outback and am looking forward to fishing all over the bay area. I live in Petaluma. Went out to tomales bay to try for Halibut this morning and out of the 10 boats nobody caught one. The bait has moved into the bay though so hopefully the Halibut follow soon.
