New one. Welding that one will most likely result in another crack next to the weld down the road.

Zones 1 and 2 look to be good to go for traps.

Most of us in zone 3 will have a crab opening delay and/or cancellation.
We are zone 3?  I couldn't find that map... :smt006
Scroll down on the link. It shows the zones.

You can use any plastic made of the same thing. My old town is HDPE so I was able to use an old container that was marked HDPE. Some kayaks are LDPE or LLHDPE, I believe. So you can match to what ever type the Hobie is. Or order the correct type. I’m not sure if there is any compatibility between the different plastic types.

Lol. It is a jumbled mess getting them all in an $8 package. The weights don’t seem to mind. Glad they made it.

I got the 3” stuff free so will try it first. I think it will be good on my bigger kayaks. But think it may be too big for the smaller ones. Will see how things works out.

Craftsmen's Corner / Kayak trailer
« on: October 17, 2021, 03:13:50 PM »
I picked up a free boat trailer several months ago. I am finally getting around to working on making it into a 4 kayak trailer. The tongue was bent up a bit so I figured it would be easier to cut the damage off and just shorten up the trailer. After finishing the tongue I cut off the old bunks and mounts. It got windy today so I wasn’t able to get much welding done so I installed new lights and wiring.
I will be using 3” pvc pipe for my new bunks. They will be 10’ long for my 13’ kayaks and 8’ for the 10’ sit ins my wife and daughter use. They will be fastened on the ends and allowed to sag and conform the the shape of the hulls.

I believe if you use a self etching primer then you can use most any paint. That what I was told when I painted my boat.
