For Sale / Kevlar Perception Corona
« on: January 18, 2021, 03:27:35 PM »
I have a closed deck kevlar Perception Corona for sale. It has a rod holder, tho fishing out of a closed deck can be a little hairy. This boat is 14' long and weighs 38 pounds. It has some cracks in the gel coat which have been repaired tho not cosmetically appealing. Still a very seaworthy boat. It was 3K brand new more than 20 years ago, asking 500 dollars OBO. The deck rigging needs to be replaced and the rudder cable needs to be oiled or replaced. I am throwing in 2 spray skirts (one partial for hot days on a lake and one full coverage), cockpit cover, paddle float, and a device that will right side you up in an emergency called a Back Up.
I also have an 8' sit on top Islander Lipstik sit on top surfing kayak. Its in excellent condition and has been in the water one time. I am throwing in a brand new back band that you will have to install on it. You will need to purchase leg braces. 150 bucks.
Need room for my new HOBIE!

General Talk / Hatch Question for Hobie Revo 13
« on: October 13, 2020, 07:42:12 PM »
Ok so I got my brand new 2020 Hobie Revo 13 and I am stoked and in the process of getting it all tricked out.  :smt007  Just ordered a bunch of YAKATTACK GT90 trac, a fishfinder mount and a rod holder.  Now I am coming from kayaking on a Cobra Marauder, which if anybody out there owns one you know how much deck and hatch space there is one of these things, its practically a barge. (I need to try and repair a 3" split in the bottom of that thing so if anyone has any input on that I will take it!) So this is something that will take some getting used to but I was wondering if anyone has installed a rectangle hatch behind the seat? I see they have what looks like what would be a cut out for an 8" hatch but I wanted to put a larger one back there and was looking at the rectangle one that Hobie has.

Well its been a LONG time since I've been in my kayak. 10 Years in fact. I went to Spicer Meadow Reservoir couple of weeks ago and found out the hard way that my Cobra Marauder had a 3" split in the bottom. I made a pit stop after about 1/4 of a mile on the shore and opened a hatch and found that my yak was full of water! A lot of water. Good thing I didnt try to go across the lake like I was going to. So I emptied it out as best I could with my bilge sponge (this is the FIRST and ONLY time I EVER went out without putting my bilge pump on my boat, never again :smt012) and upon further inspection found the problem. I was so bummed! I think the heat inside of my shed from being stored on its side for so long is what caused the split. Its right on the edge of a scupper hole. Then I had to paddle like a mad man back to the boat ramp to get back to my truck and then pump the water out of it with my bilge pump. I really want to fix this thing, I LOVE this boat, I just put a nice shade on it for my poopie dog! Anyway, I'm trying to get Cobra to send me some plastic so I can try and weld it. That should be interesting. In the mean time tho, the new kayak bug has finally come to full manifestation. On Friday I put a down payment on a new Hobie Revolution 13.  :smt044  I cant wait! I remember so many times being a long way off shore trying to get back because it was getting dicey out there and watching these Hobies just go flying past us! I'm in the process of buying a fish finder for it, man have they come a long way in technology in the last 10 years, holy cow! It will be about a month or so before I get it, and a little while longer to trick it all out. How do you guys like your Revolutions those of you that have one? Any tips for plastic welding? I already drilled a small hole on both sides of the split.
Anyway, my favorite fishing spot was putting out at Stillwater Cove by the tennis club off of 17 mile drive. Does anyone know if we can still do that? It was such a great spot to launch from. I will definitely be looking for some fishing buddies to go out with, all of mine have moved  :smt009  I do need to stop watching You Tube videos of sharks attacking kayaks.......

For Sale / NECKY DOLPHIN
« on: March 29, 2014, 12:03:47 PM »
Ok people! I have a Necky Dolphin here for 400 dollars down from 500.  Its in very good condition and has two flush rod holders installed behind the seat. It also has a rudder and 3 hatches. I have 4 kayaks and I need some more room in my shed! Im tired of hitting my head on the dang things. I also have a surfing sit on top and a closed deck kevlar Perception Corona as well that I need to get rid of. Believe it or not I used to fish out of my Corona, I put rod holders in it and added some inflatable sponsoons on the side for stability. ANYWAY, there is a good cause here as well, I am donating the money I receive for the Necky to Voice of the Martyrs. :smt002

For Sale / Necky Dolphin STILL FOR SALE
« on: September 13, 2013, 09:04:37 PM »
I have a Necky Dolphin for sale! Its in very good condition and is a great boat for a smaller size paddler. It has 3 hatches and a rudder. I installed two rod holders behind the seat and added a bunch of eyelets for deck rigging. Im asking 500 dollars. I also have 2 other kayaks for sale as well, a kevlar Perception Corona and an Islander Surfing Kayak. My kevlar one does have a rod holder in it, I fished out of it for a while with some inflatable sponsoons on the side. It was pretty nutty I will admit, much better off in a sit on top.

For Sale / Fishing Kayak for sale
« on: July 06, 2012, 09:14:47 PM »
I have a blue Necky Dolphin kayak for sale. It has two rod holders, 3 hatches, a rear tub and a rudder. This kayak is in pretty good shape and Im asking 500 dollars for it. It is 14 feet long and about 29 inches wide. This would be a good boat for a smaller size paddler. Also I have a 8.8 Lipstick surfing kayak for 350 thats been in the water ONE time, if anyone knows a kayak surfer. I broke my skylight in my shed moving the damn thing around again so that was the last straw :smt013 Im trying to post a pic of the Necky but its not working RATS. If anyone is interested, let me know and I can send a picture.

Thanks!
Kim

Cobra Kayaks / Maruader Rudder Madness.
« on: November 20, 2008, 08:42:40 PM »
So I went on a camping trip in my Maurauder and discovered that when loaded with gear and even just a tiny bit of wind I couldnt steer worth a crap. I paddled 50 times on the same side and was still barley able to straighten the boat out.  :smt013 Has anyone else experienced this problem? I had the boat loaded pretty evenly, it was unbelievable how bad it was, I was literally going in circles. The bone heads at Cobra originally said they were going to come out with a rudder for this boat. Obviously they never did. The least they could have done was make it rudder adaptable. The way they shaped the stern makes it almost impossible. Unless of course you get pissed off enough, you are creative and stubborn. So if anyone is interested, I am installing a rudder system on my Maurauder. Its actually turning out ok. I got the Smart track rudder system- after which I discovered that the stupid thing doesnt fold back down on the top of your kayak, it only rotates 180 degrees so if its not in the water, its sticking straight up in the freaking air.  :smt013 Stupid stupid stupid. I never saw anywhere where they mention this and Ive been looking at this rudder for a long time. Anyway, its been a little tricky, actually very tricky, a lot of choice adjectives, a fair amount of blood and a host of pulled muscles and bruises from all of the ridiculous positions and contortionism trying to get to all of the bolts to install this thing. If anyone is interested I will post some pictures of the madness. Im about 85% complete. I think it will be worth it in the end. I had to take a break for obvious reasons. Patience patience patience........... :smt012

General Talk / Where o Where?
« on: August 13, 2006, 09:17:05 PM »
Next weekend Stillwater is having the Concourse. I learned my lesson in staying away from there on that day last year. Good grief. Where is there another good spot for rock and ling cod???? Anyone? Thanks!

13
Opening day was a blast. So far Ive caught a ling cod every time Ive gone out in my new Marauder. THe more I paddle that boat the more I like it. I feel so much safer in that thing, what a major difference. Monday the ocean was kind of dicey but it didnt bother me near as much as it would have in my closed deck, since hanging upside down in the freezing water is no longer a fear.  I caught 2 nice ling cods, a nice vermillion and a bunch of blues on Saturday, and on Monday I caught a few nice blues and a nice ling cod. THere was some biologist woman on the beach Monday giving us a hard time and threatening to have us all arrested for catching rock fish. She wanted us to go to Safeway to get our fish. Wheres the fun in that? I just ignored her. She really got on Dave, and I was surprised on how well he held back. Not sure we would have the same results the next time. I didnt have my stinking camera on Saturday when I caught my two lings, but I did have it on Monday. As soon as I find out how to post a picture I'll put one on. Anyone interested in Stillwater this Saturday????? :smt003

General Talk / Marauder
« on: June 25, 2006, 09:01:49 PM »
Well, I have paddled my new Marauder and I am in love!  :smt007 Ive been on it twice now and I am really happy with it. It tracks fairly well and is very stable. The best part is of course the tons of storage that it has, it has room for the kitchen sink, and no more being upside down if I get tipped over like in my closed deck (hopefully). So now the countdown to this Saturday has begun. I just heard that we can fish up to 180' now for rockfish and next year the season will open in May. Which means I can wake up from hibernation 2 months earlier next year! Has anyone else heard this??? Looking forward to another fun year of fishing, hope to see a bunch of you on the water.
