Trinidad Rockfish Wars is back! We had such a successful tournament last year, that we are back for round 2! Trinidad Rockfish Wars 2 is set for Saturday October, 13 2012. This is the big farewell tournament to bottom fishing season, so don't miss it! We are going to have some big prize packages this year for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams. This year it's going to be bigger and better.

This year we’ve buddy-ed up with Lost Coast Brewery for beer and The Emerald Forest of Trinidad. You can find info at www.CabinsInTheRedwoods.com. . If you call in and say you are booking for “Rockfish Wars” then they will give you a special discount on a Camp Site, RV Site or any of their nice Cabins that sleep anywhere from 2-8 people. They are located in the Redwoods .6 miles from Trinidad.  The cut off time for getting your registration forms in is the cut off time for the deals at The Emerald Forest of Trinidad. They have a Fish Cleaning Station, playgrounds for the kids and that is were we are going to have our “Awards Pot Luck” dinner. Lets see some creative dishes!

For more information and to download the forms, visit the Pacific Outfitters link below:

We thank everyone at NCKA for all your support last year. Remember, a portion of the proceed go to help out McKinleyville Skate Park.

The first of many, Sonoma Slam tournaments was a huge success, put on by Pacific Outfitters and Lost Coast Kayak Anglers. The weather was in the high 70's the bass left their spawning beds and the bite was descent. We had 17 two man teams. People came from all over, as far south as Stockton, as far east as Placer County and as far north has Trinidad. I was so impressed at the quality of people that came out for the first annual Sonoma Slam. Sonoma Slam in a Multi-Species tournament. We scored based off points per inch, per species. Between the two teammate, you could turn in up to 5 fish total of any of the species. If your largest species caught was a "catch and release" fish you received and extra bonus inch for the fish. All but two fish were caught using "catch and release" method. We all hit the water at 6:30am and the last people came back by 3:00pm. There was a large varienty of fish that were caught, everything from Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Trout and Pan Fish. Our largest Bass caught was a 23" Largemouth Bass caught by Team Bass Turds. We also had a 16" Crappie caught by Team Dynamite! That was the largest Crappie I have ever seen. It was also the most valuable fish caught, coming in at a whopping 192 pts. First place went to Team Placer County (714 pts), Second place went to Team Salty William (632 pts) and Third place went to Team Bass Turds (600 pts). Sonoma Slam had prizes for first, second and third place teams. Addition to the prizes, first place received two custom welded metals (see pictures) and second place received custom wood painted metals (see pictures). We would like to give a special thanks to Pacific Outfitters and Lost Coast Kayak Anglers for contributing prizes and labor for putting this event together. I would also like to thank Six Rivers Brewery for donating six cases of beer! Everyone really enjoyed your beer, thank you. Another thanks goes to the Park Rangers of Lake Sonoma and the DFG for getting our permit done in a hurry. You guys were a pleasure to deal with. And a BIG thanks goes out to all the wonderful people that came out and participated in the tournament. You guys and gals made this happen and we look forward to keeping this going every year. With the huge recreation area, "car top only" boat ramp and the "paddle to" camp sites, it really made this lake to be a desirable place to hold a kayak fishing tournament. If you didn't make it this year, check out the photos, because after being there in person, you will definitely want to come back year after year. Thanks again everyone, I will keep you posted on next years tournament.

Also, don't forget to email your pictures to aaron@pacificoutfitters.com. We are looking for a good picture to put on the flyer for next year. If we choose your picture, we will comp your entry fee and Pacific Outfitters will kick down a $50 gift card!

Lost Coast Kayak Anglers is hosting another fishing tournament, this time we are changing hats and going FRESHWATER! Sonoma Slam 1 will be hosted at Lake Sanoma on 04/28/12. Check out the attachments for details. This lake is loaded with fish right now, and we are claiming a chunk of them. The rules are similar to the last event (Trinidad Rockfish Wars 1). Two man teams, turn in your five highest scoring fish. You remember how much fun TRW1 was, this will be one not to miss! This time we are camping! Lots of camp site available, some you have to kayak to. You can always count on LCKA to come through on prizes and it's defiantly worth the drive. Cajun and me (Pacman) will be in charge of this event, so hit us up for any details you can't find on the attachments. We already have prizes showing up and we have a keg! We really appreciate everyone's support and comments on TRW1!
