General Talk / Re: Deep Water Spots for Kayaks
« on: August 24, 2023, 12:35:46 PM »
I guess they assume since we live in California we should just be able to afford a boat. Still don't get why they won't allow non motorized vessels to fish shallow. Nothing makes sense in this state anymore.

2
Not that it all do anything but we should all call in and respectfully voice our opinions. Especially why non motorized vessels should be ale to fish.

3
This is such bs, hope they get enough pressure to reverse this decision. Watch it will be same regs next year except halibut will he closed as well. The mismanagement of this state at all levels is overwhelming.

I was drinking my coffee and enjoying the view above Dillon yesterday morning, figure CG was doing an exercise. I have to commend Willy and Cameron of Lawson's Landing for their rescue attempt.

Going up this weekend and stuck on the shore. Any advice which lakes have decent shore action/drop offs? Looks like the fall bite should fire up with the temps dropping. Feel free to pm as well, respect discretion. Thank you,any tips help overwhelming with all the lakes in the area.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I found another Malibu 2 XL with good seats and paddles. So molded carry handles are 2013 and up? I know they sell for $950 brand new at a local shop. This other one I found is going for $750 and if its newer and lightly used.. is that a reasonable price or should I try to talk them down?

Ocean Kayaks / Price for Malibu 2 XL?
« on: June 01, 2021, 07:49:46 PM »
I found a used malibu 2 xl i might pick up tomorrow. Sellar stated needs new seats amd wants $600. Seems like units with good seats go for that much. Does $500 sound more appropriate?

Getting some days off in two weeks and hoping to do some camping. I have  a 4wd and was hoping to find some less traveled routes/fire roads/easy to moderate trails in the Sierras or decent camping spots North or south along the coast.
Looking into Boca Reservoir and Bowman Lake for trout fishing/camping. Though may be closed first week of November.
Seems campsites around Big Sur are closed. Would be nice to do some fishing from shore/surf.
I do need to call around and see exactly whats open. Currently trying to brain storm different places then narrow it down. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  PMs welcome as well, as I respect discretion. No spots will end up on instagram nor youTube
Well, you could always come bag out at our place in Weimar. we are about 1.5 hrs from Boca/Stampede lakes. or the Bowman lakes area 1.0ish. Fires are good so far up here and camping on Hwy 89 is open. Stream closure nov 15th I think. Getting cold at night up here (31*)  Could set your trailer up here and day trip to 15-20 different lakes...

Thank you, much appreciated! I'm definitely going to keep that in mind. We were hoping to make it down to big sur, may save that trip for next spring. Thanks for the heads up, I need to read up on the regulations for the streams and lakes. Seems it changes depending where you are.

General Talk / Re: CA Mag ban overturned...but for how long?
« on: August 21, 2020, 02:15:04 AM »
Atleast California got a weeks worth of mag purchases. I still can't believe that happened. Maybe the magnitude of merchandise shipped to the state will make them think twice about mandatory vaccinations. So sad to see such an amazing state go to shit.

What up tla, are you going to mention anything about spot burning in to your book and blog?

To discourage all these noobs from strapping on a go pro and intentionally or unintentionally blowing up lesser known spots. Reassure them that they do not all need to be youtube fisherman, should keep their day jobs and that ethics/respect is more valuable than shares likes and subs. This is a free country (not as much now) and people can do what they want. As I have a right to speak up and voice my opinion how I feel about the matter. Especially if I see a person from the bay or Sacramento. Atleast advise them to lay off the go pro unless they want to deal with some of the lesser than nice locals. Now I feel more eyes on me then ever being in a kayak where Iauch at due to certian youtubers. Yeah bud you might be youTube famous, but also just as famous in a negative way. Maybe they just don't "get it" or haven't had a chance to see the bigger picture of what fishing is. It's not just a sport. Can't really teach that though.

Wanted To Buy / WTB Ocean kayak Malibu Tandem

Sacramento  or bay area hit me up

Social media ruins everything. The youtubers were cool at first, entertaining barley any talking, not spot specific. Now it's a bunch of divas who spot burn for likes and subs. Seriously sounding like a bunch of cam girls. Then you have this old crazy local who could of killed/hurt someone. No way acceptable, though I understand why he's pissed. Same reason even local kayakers  are pissed. Mostly goes back to certain halibut vids. But hey don't forget to like share and subscribe.
