Put me down for a maybe. I will see if the family wants to make a weekend of it. Any family friendly hotels in the area?
-
I will be there as well just on my PA, looking forward to seeing everyone and meeting everyone. See you there Don.

The Bodega Bay Lodge is the closest to Doran but is really expensive (over $300/night). The Inn at the Tides is a mile or 2 from Doran and will run about $180/night. The Yelp reviews were mixed though. The Bodega Harbor Inn is 3-4 miles from Doran, runs $110-150/night and better Yelp reviews than the tides. No swimming pool though but is dog friendly.http://www.bodegaharborinn.com (http://www.bodegaharborinn.com) They rent houses which are reasonable if you split it with another family. maybe you can bring your neighbor Yakuza with you. He can swim around and guard our pots while we are sailing. :smt005 :smt005 :smt005

I will be there. Also on 1/26 & 1/27/2013. :smt004

Count me in...
-
Count me in.
Rey
-
If I show up and bring the sail to my Revo it will be glass; zero wind.
I'll leave the sail at home but still crab and chill.
-
This hookup would be a great opportunity for those who are looking into getting an AI. While I'm in the beach drinking beer and waiting for my crab pots to fill up with dungeness, someone can try out my AI if they like.
Rey

Count me in. Very excited.
Ariel

Count me in too. No AI just the lead sled.

OK Islanders and Non-Islanders, the forecast and crabbing conditions favor HMB over Doran so we will move the event to HMB. We will need wind 7-17 kt and swell <8' to call it a go. Right now the forecast looks kind of gnarly. It will be a Thursday call. If it is a go, people can launch from 630-800 and lunch will be at noon at the kayak rental area. There will be a big dungie side bet with a $1 entry.
-
Scott,
I'll be there (HMB) late at 2pm with my brother. Need to work at our church' bus barn in the morning.
See ya there if you're still around.
Danny

The event is open to all vessels. Even PA's. :smt005

Sorry to say I can't make this one. You boys have some fun sailing and crabbing!
Rey

I may just bring the family and chill and sail the harbor. Been wanting to get the little ones out on the AI....seems like a good spot to do it. I assume you all are doing some sort of 'chill' post crabbin'
-
Yep we will be chillin. Bring a sabiki. There was some bait last weekend.
-
I plan on joining in the fun. Mike G. (AI)
-
Too bad I have to work.....I'm gonna try to come by after work, I need to check out some AI's

Wow the WX is really shaping up and at this point it is a go. The storm front makes it a Thursday call but I am feeling good.
Saturday: N wind around 8 kt. Mostly sunny. Mixed swell...WNW 4 to 5 ft and SW 2 ft. Wind waves around 1 ft.
So here is the game plan. We will have a staggered launch, AKA launch whenever you wake up and get there. You can crab or crab and fish. I am going to launch at 7 and drop then sail over to the reef and fish for an hour or 2. Then come back and crab. Lunch will be at noon at the kayak rental area as will be the big crab side bet. If people want to crab, fish or sail outside the reef, file a flight plan and buddy up. Inside the reef is looking sweet for sailing. It is time to start the potluck thread:
Scott - Hot links and buns.

Well, after 5 days of crabbing and little to show for it, i'm a bit crabbed out :smt044 Probably wait until Crabfest to go again :smt002 Good luck fellas and have fun!
-
Saturday: N wind 6 to 9 kt. Partly sunny. Mixed swell...WNW 4 to 5 ft and SW 2 ft. Wind waves around 1 ft.
It's a go. Need a head count.

I havnt paddled or pedaled in months. Can i get an AI tow out to the grounds?
-
Just found out I have to attend a garage sale on that day.
Just moved the mother-in-law into a retirement community. She's selling her house of 50 years so there's a lot of stuff to get rid of.
Have fun everybody. Looking forward to the report.
(I'm so bummed)

Count me in :smt003 will this be a beach launch or boat ramp.

It is a beach launch but the sand part is wet packed so the plug in cart might work. I back my car onto the beach to load and unload and don't use a cart. It is about a 100' carry/drag. I am going to try my plug in cart to shorten the AI rigging time.

It's actually in Pillar Point Harbor in El Granada; which is a small town in Half Moon Bay. They will be launching right next to Half Moon Bay Kayak Rentals (shown below)
-
Well the WX is 8-12 kt with a mixed swell 6/2. Decent sailing conditions. So far:

2. Pat R (AI)
3. Ray (AI)
4. Mike G (AI)
5. Martin N (A)

Let's go for a 7 AM launch. I will guide you to the crab place then take
You to RHE reef. I may not fish because someone needs to guard the pots and I will be short soaking.
Shore lunch at 12 PM at the kayak area. I'll be grilling hot links.
-
Having never attended one of these adventures, not sure how the pot luck goes, but I will bring cheese, bread/crackers and olives. Maybe staying with the theme, olives stuffed with anchovies.
What about paper plates, cups, etc.?
I am also assuming it is OK to park in the grassy area next to the launch site.

After unloading at the grassy area I park my car in the lot next to the restaurant across the street. Sometimes they let you park there but last year they hassled me so I unload then move my car.
-
Well I just checked in and now it's down at HMB. Think I'm going to stay local. They weren't catching crabs in close, but when you go out deeper they are doing fine. Last time I was out there I wished I had my sonar with me and a rod. I saw some positive signs of bait and good brown water. Have fun boyz.
-
Will the Crabs be up at 7AM tomorrow morning, its Saturday?
-
My son soccer team didn't win the play off game last night so they doing the end of season trophy and pizza Saturday at 11 am. Have fun tomorrow everyone and hope you all do well

Can't sleep so I might as well leave early and maybe get a wink in my truck at the harbor!
