General Talk / Kayak Storage or Rental?
« on: April 18, 2024, 09:35:34 AM »
I was thinking of selling my kayak (actually listed it here if you woud like to see - https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1127558955055789)

But I do not really want to sell it. I just don't have room for it for about a year. Would anyone be interested in borrowing or even have space for storing it if they don't plan on using (I can pay)?

I am selling a Tarpon 160 with paddle and Wheelez, which I hope to post on the classifieds soon. PM me if you don't see it on there and are interested.

Kayak Diving and Spearfishing / Re: Looking into wet suit

If you have an "odd bod" like me that seems to be in between sizes, you should get a custom wetsuit. I got mine from Oceanos which is shockingly affordable even with shipping from Greece to the U.S.. the cheapest I've found

+1 to everyone else's comments. I'd stick to a 7mm if you're planning on using it up here more often than warmer waters

When you planning on getting in the water? I'll try to get in Saturday/Sunday morning but not sure how early depending on hangover levels.

I'll be the bearded guy with an A's hat in the Yellow Wilderness Systems yak that has no clue what he's doing.

see ya in the zoo, yo

gonna be there with the kayak for the first time. until then, i am scouring these forums for the basics but would be awesome to have someone to paddle around with. I'll be launching near the tahoe keys marina

Here's a few from the motherland that are sitting around on the old hard drive. There's more if I go digging deeper on one of my many other gadgets that I'm lagging on getting around to digging through.

Hi new friends,

I'm Vic. I live in San Francisco. And I just bought a yak for the oceans. It's a used Wilderness Systems Tarpon 160.

I bought it in May but left for Croatia for 2.5 months the following week so I haven't had a chance to get out on the water with it yet. I do still need to get a rod/reel and associated accessories, however. I'm a pretty big newb when it comes to fishing so I'm in the research phase, I guess you could say.

But I've been freediving for about 3 years now, primarily for abalone here in CA and spearfishing in Croatia over the summers. So, I guess you can consider me your resident information center on all things spearfishing in Croatia (among other things there).
