General Talk / IF YOU ARE CLAYMAN DONT READ THIS THREAD
« on: January 26, 2017, 04:11:37 PM »
Seriously Chris, don't read any further.

I got a parting/good-luck-in-Oregon gift for Clayman on behalf of NCKA in appreciation of his spirit and contributions to the community. If there is a message that you would like to include with this gift, then post it up on this thread.  I'll print them out and send it with the gift.

Thanks :smt006

I am getting pretty excited about ISE, since it looks like the kayak fishing community will have a YUGE presence this year.

So who's going? Who's presenting?

Uminchu, Clayman, SuperVato and some tool named Adam Loens (sp?) will be presenting and hanging out at the Kayak City booth. We will talk about how to catch really really really big fish from a kayak, and I think Clayman is going to talk about how to catch monster trout WITHOUT TROLLING  :smt103 The booth is gonna be big this year, 1800sq ft big, and they will have some killer deals. I have never heard or him, but some guy named Jim Sammons will be there too.

Adult Admission - $17.00
Youth under 16 - Free!
It looks like you can get coupons at Big O Tires, Oreilllys, & Togos. Alternately, you can go to the website and sign up  :smt011 for a promo code. You could also try to blag your way in, jump the fence, or dig a tunnel.

Thu..   11am - 8pm
Fri...   11am - 8pm
Sat..   10am - 7pm
Sun..   10am - 5pm

From the events calendar it looks like NCKA will be well represented. Luminary Craig Davis and Eric Sowa will be presenting for the Ocean Kayak team, as will Chuckee for Hobie. RacinRob will be there for Wilderness Systems (will the new WS peddle drive be on display?!). BMB is going to tell us what's new with Native Watercraft kayaks, because he would rather talk about kayaks than fishing  :smt003 Biobill has an ambitious presentation schedule on various kayak fly fishing topics.

So, who's going? Where will you be hanging out?

Delete if this is a duplicate thread.

I plan to be near the oyster bar peddling my wares after the safety meeting.

Bringing:
Jigheads (pre-orders only)
Burlap (as much as I can find today)
Assorted midges (tied for Almanor) courtesy of Arctic Fox Flies ( free).
Assorted gear for trade/gift/sell

Mike Wingshooter will also be at the table distributing his goods, but I don't know details.

Who else is participating in the gear swap, where will you set up?

Kayak Diving and Spearfishing / Pacific Nalu
« on: May 08, 2016, 09:32:40 AM »
It's easy to get the freedive gear you need when an NCKA brother owns a dive shop!

I'm sure that most everyone here is already very familiar with Pacific Nalu, but on the off chance that someone isn't..... They are a pleasure to buy stuff from.

Here is my experience:

I called (during closed hours) and left a message. Within a day, Joe returned my call, made recommendations on the gear that I would need, and sent an invoice to my e-mail. 4 days later I have my gear!  Now all I need to do is get on the water  :smt001

Thanks Pacific Nalu!

For Sale / Free diabetic test strips, lancets and lancing devices
« on: April 10, 2016, 05:45:48 PM »
So, I walked into a closing K-mart today because I heard they were selling surplus fixtures, pegboard and other stuff. I filled my cart with new commercial bathroom fixtures, when I heard someone shout "everything for a penny?!" I asked if fixtures and pegboard was going for a penny each, and the manager said "no, but if you buy out what is left in our pharmacy (which was 1 cent per item), that he would give me all the fixtures and pegboard that I want for free.

I spend $1.24, and now have hundreds of diabetic test strip boxes (expiration in late 2016 and 2107).
Since CL prohibits medical supplies even in the free section, I thought I would try my luck here.

Also, if anyone knows a good place to donate medical supplies that would be cool too.

« on: March 13, 2016, 04:37:06 PM »
I'm looking for someone in Lodi who can check on Montana's dog, Pepper, and bring some chow.

Worst case scenario I'll make the drive, but if there is someone closer that would be awesome.  :smt006

Fishing Tournaments and Events / AOTY-Archie Marx recused from judging.
« on: January 14, 2016, 10:08:27 AM »
Since I plan to compete in AOTY this year and since I am still on the AOTY committee, I have decided to recuse myself from judging submissions.

I will stay on the commitee for the 2016 year to help solicit sponsorship, organize awards and help with any fish ID issues.

Fishing Tournaments and Events / Sac Crew X-mas party December 11, Auburn
« on: November 07, 2015, 10:59:14 AM »
You are all invited to the Sac Crew Christmas/Hannukka/Quanza/Winter Solstice party! We are holding the festivities at Linda's restaurant this year, which means we can party as long as we like.  :smt003

If you plan on attending, RSVP on this thread.

When: Friday December 11, 7:30 pm

Where: Szechuan Restaurant, 13400 Lincoln Way, Auburn, CA 95603

Cost: Between $15 and $20, kids eat for free (we are still working out the details)

If you wish to participate in the gift exchange, please bring one gift. In the past the gifts have been between $10-$40, but monetarily value is not important, and the garage-made and original gifts are usually a hit.

Getting home safe: Weimarian has volunteered to be our taxi driver shuttling those who should not be driving to either his house, or my folk's house which will have spare rooms prepared. This isn't an invitation for everyone to get sloshed since we have limited space, but we want everyone to get home safe.

Thanks, Ron!

Music:
Tony is bringing his Ukulele. If you have a guitar or other instrument and know a few Holiday tunes, bring it!
